To get started, I'd suggest getting some theme decks from the current core set. Also a good tip, hold out on using blue untill you're comfortable with the game due to blue playing weird compared to the other colors, Green or Red or White are good to start with.

Well, I'd suggest studying up on the rules for a week or so before you play a game, so you wouldnt be as confused on your first game.
