People who play with mods are usually assholes anyway

I could mod Morrowind into Oblivion, but that doesn't mean there are no real changes between the two.
Also is English your native language?
When you can get mods that have been implemented for over 2 patches now, and do it better? What is the reason to update, really?
Is English yours?

Speaking as an asshole, I've got to say he has some points there. I was playing with AMCO and will most likely go back to using it. This update just doesn't gave me enough to walk away from it yet. I don't know, maybe 1.9 will make me give up AMCO, but not yet.

Never played mods, so, enjoying this.

Really, the improved terrain/cave generator algorithms alone is enough to make me fall in love with 1.8. I generated a new world, and it starts me on this island. A somewhat large island, with a lake in the middle. All I can see on any shore is ocean, save for the north shore and the south shore. To the north shore, I see a gigantic mountain jutting out from the sea. I eventually fashioned a boat and went over to check it out, and it turns out that's the mainland, I guess. The mountains are gorgeous. And that's where all the animals are. There are *NO* animals/meat on my island. I had to fish to survive, which was kind of fun.

I went back my home island, and eventually went over to the south shore. Off the south shore is a very tiny island. I figured nothing was there, it's barely big enough for a small log cabin. But I swim over and check it out anyway. Turns out that the center of the island is hollowed out, like a volcano, and under the island is a massive system of caves.

1.8 is full of things like this. I'm having more fun just discovering the world than I ever did in previous versions.

Wait until you find a cavern/ravine under the water.

I love the villages. Can't wait for the NPCs.

Malson

I take back everything I said. 1.8 rekindled my love for Minecraft once more.

Grafikal

1.9 will be nice when then add the tundras and possibly volcanoes.

But it's nothing knew..
There's a reason I asked
Well I am kinda tired from life, so my grammar takes several hits.

I must say, screwing around with it a little bit, I saw a ravine, and it was pretty awesome. I guess I'll keep a spare jar around for it.

Are you on a server, or just singleplayer?

If you place a torch next to a chest it fixes the rendering problem for the ones in distance of it, and from what the website says, there's no main land technically, because you can run in any direction and it generates maps forever and saves them, which is pretty interesting unless you already knew that xD

Also, before it wouldn't let me charge up the bow before shooting it until the last patch I just got, which makes bows a lot more fun. It also moves the camera now while pulling it back.

Kokowam

Anybody know when 1.9's supposed to come out? :P And idk if I want to start 1.8 because 1.9 has new biomes, and new biomes never update unless you make a new world... Unless 1.9 is a LONG way away.

Mushu

I personally would release it on Halloween xD
but that's still a little while from now

Acolyte

Well, the full game's supposed to come out in November, so I'm guessing 1.9 will have to come out before November. That's less than two months away.

I believe the biome code is fixed to be more backwards-compatible with old maps.  You'd just need to explore farther.

Found my first canyon. This is pretty awesome.

I find it odd how spiders are passive during the day, maybe they'll let us make a mount to ride spiders like the skeletons do. lol

Dwarra?

Found my first village!

I found out the food meter doesn't deplete with time, only with actions. That's so unrealistic :P

Edit: I found out some other cool stuff also :D

This seed puts you on a small island with one tree: 83350775
I also realized an effective way to find dungeons is by sailing in a large body of water and looking for lighted areas on the ocean floor.

(to the left of boat) It's easier to see when you're moving. It also helps setting FOV and render distance to max.

About 2/3 of the time it's just a lava area but it's a lot easier finding a dungeon this way then digging through tons of mass or wandering for kilometers

I got 1.8 by updating 1.7 :/ I want 1.9 :D Hopefully I can get it through another update :S
