So Valkyrie Profile 2 is a really good game, the battle system gets a little repetative after a little while though. Basically, you have 4 characters in your party at any given time and each character (in battle) is assigned a button on the playstation controller. (X, O, Triangle, or Square) Each character is equipped (pre-battle) with up to 3 different attacks. So for instance if you press O, that character will use their first attack equipped, then press it again to use the second attack. Basically, when you get to level 15+ it becomes more about just mashing the shit out of those buttons. Side note though: Each attack uses up a certain amount of AP once used so I suppose there's some strategy involved but seriously, just mash the shit out of the heavy hitters. Also you start with 100 AP (100 is also the max amount) at the beginning of each battle unless you get ambushed which is way easy to do. Never the less, Valkyrie Profile 2 is a good game and the story is awesome. I like Norse mythology anyways.
