New Spriter

GO TO MY WORKSHOP IN THE RESOURCE SECTION FOR ALL THE UPDATED MATERIAL

So I'm a new spriter, that came from hbgames.org. I was registered here before, but never got into the place. Anyways, so I'm new to spriting (just started yesterday in fact), and have already made one, and am on the way to finishing another. Though I can't sprite without a reference yet, and can only do edits to hair, I've read tutorials, studied sprites and shading, and here is what my first project produced, modeled off a Ragnarok Online sprite:





Poses for this one so far: (I added a pose to my first sprite (called him Zane in my game). It was made as an idle stance on the map, with his mallet thrown over his shoulder. He twitches his ear, stamps his foot, and shifts the mallet (idle stance; what else is gonna do?). Hope you like it, I made this one without  template. )






(the second image is the default one used when imported into RPG Maker XP. The first is a comparison to the Ragnarok sprite that it's modeled off).

So I tested it, and everything works well. I personally love the way it came out, considering it was my first, and I deeply encourage others to take up spriting. Though the time put into it is long and the work is tedious and sometimes hard, I think it's well worth it to watch your own work moving around in your game.


Another one that I just finished is a female, purple haired assassin:




This one is a bit harder to do obviously, but I think it came out well.

I should probably make a workshop thread soon...

I will be making others, and will post a topic here for my workshop, to be known as the WISP Database (WISP: White in Sprite Project: explain in later topic).

So if you use my sprites, just give me credit (from whatever site you wish, this or hbgames.org). I'm not taking requests in case anyone asks, but will be doing more Ragnarok ones (for my own game), and will hopefully go on to making RTP type enemies afterwards.

Your sprite kicks butt... I like them.

I often need reference to... To keep the sprites I make as close to the RTP style as I can.

Yay, I justed updated my female assassin! She's done!!! Which means I can go on to work on another, and hopefully get it done tonight.

I can't find a single fault with them... Amazing work, and to think your knew at this... Can't wait to see more !!!

Well, they already have battlers. The Ragnarok Online sprites. That's why I made them. To fit my battlers. But I put them together, yes. Maybe I'll upload all of the ones I've done at a latter point. But I'm using teh Bof CBS.

Anyways, got a new pose for the first sprite!

Hmm, I'm not overly big on taking requests. But yours is unique, and I like the idea of it. I can't get to it today, and I think yours is going to take longer, so I will get it done this week, and let you know. That okay?

I just can't believe this is your first try at spriting, you must have had previous experience or have gotten them from somewhere.  You don't get that good overnight.

I like the new sprite with the hammer, it's shaping up pretty nicely !!
