Cool. I'm glad they're doing a Mac version and going back to a layer system.

I dunno why they don't just let you use any tile size and resolution you want though.

Nice to see you can just un-check what you want on your menu, too. Lots of little things. Also ...


Beta-test pixel movement and smooth walking animation.


EDIT: Here is a Q&A with a beta-tester (Archeia)

Q : What is the default movement of the on-screen character?
A: It's a 48x48 grid. But since the scripts/plugins are now super flexible, you should be able to adjust it.

Q: Can you transfer existing games made in RPG Maker VX/VXA to RPG Maker MV?
A: Not possible.

Q: Does the RPG Maker MV game executable run as a 64-bit or 32-bit program?
A: 32-bit.

Q: Do you need to develop and/or build your game on a Mac in order to deploy to the Mac or iOS platforms? Or can you do it from a Windows version as well?
A: Nope. You can do it in both OS.

Q: The Luna-Engine is listed as one of the scripts on the product page picture. Does this mean that RPG Maker MV will be RGSS-compatible with the past makers?
A: Nope. This is a test for a custom plugin. In short, remaking Luna Engine to MV.

Q: Can you go higher than the stated 816x624 resolution?
A: Higher Definition and Resolution is supported through plug-ins. A resolution of 1920x1080 has been tested.

Maaaaaaaan, I'm really stoked to be able to "uncheck" menu options, too! :gracie: I always had to fiddle around with those in the past when I wanted to make a game with custom menus. I wonder if the overall layout of the menu will be different, too? They've pretty much kept that the same forever.

The two are unrelated and I'd be very surprised if a Java class involved any JavaScript. But once you learn your first programming language, learning another language is quite elementary in comparison.

JavaScript was the second language I learned back in college, and I picked it up far easier than Ruby. I think you'll be fine, Yuyu.

Ohhh, I see. The link Aco provided says that JavaScript is a little easier than Java? Regardless, I may try to teach myself JavaScript while I'm learning Java anyways. :) I learned basic html when I was a kid, so maybe I'm not totally hopeless as a programmer. :B

I'm actually supposed to take an entry level C++ class, and then I plan on taking two courses in Java. Otherwise, I can continue to take C++ for two more classes. Java seems like it might be a little more fun, though.

I've always had my doubts about trying to learn how to program, but this actually sounds really fun! *___* Maybe I can make an actual program for my sister's face maker. :}
