Are you guys going to share the code you used to realize this beautiful dream?

Because as far as I'm concerned every message board should immediately implement this feature. I want to start a message board just so I can have this. I don't know what it would be about. I guess Pokemon.

I thought about open sourcing the Pokemon system when starting it but decided against it for a number of reasons:

• It's still heavily in development - some features are literally hacked in at the moment, waiting for other functions to be finished so they can be dropped. I've built up quite a list of "behind the scenes" things to do that have no effect to end users but will make everything much nicer code-wise.
• It's still heavily in development and thus almost every day a new version is running - if you were to use this with your own SMF install you'd constantly be outdated.
• I'm not sure of the legality of distributing a package that basically revolves around Nintendo's copyrighted / trademarked material.
• It's made specifically for RMRK; for the forseeable future I want it to be a unique RMRK feature.

Roph, at some point I would like to discuss with you the possibility of getting the code, though not for pokemon at all.. It would be collecting different types of gems, lower appear rate, etc.. Kinda like how it was when we first started testing it out with the new theme like a month ago? Would you happen to have the old code still, or did you do away with that?

I realize you're trying to insinuate something but can't for the life of me think what, since the only reason to share the code would be to use it elsewhere. It's like you're accusing me of only asking for a slice of cake because I want to eat it.

Honestly, I'm with M00s on this one. It's something special to RMRK and really sets us apart from all the other game making forums out there. And who knows? It might give us a much needed activity boost.

Also, I really don't want to see any/many other message boards with this. That's like handing Plankton the Krabby Patty secret formula.

But that's just my opinion. :anski2:
