So I wrote a book.

You can look at the page on Amazon if you want  ;)

Thanks for the encouragement and advise along the way.

And because it takes Amazon a couple of days to get the paperback on their site, you could buy the paper back version here. You know, if you wanted.

Amazon got with it. Paperback here.

Very cool, good job man!

Thanks Spirit. Let me know, if you pick it up, what you think!

I still have a spot for it :-)

That's the great thing about web and self publishing. I can update it on the fly. No leaky publishers offering me hundreds of thousands just to write...

Well I get to update it whenever!

EvilM00s

Alright. I'll be honest so you know what to expect: I had to put it on a waaay back burner, but the outlines are done. I still need to ink it and do all the calligraphy.

Life happens bud! I'm honored you'd undertake the project!

Cool news, a blogger has graciously given my book a highlight on her blog. There's a giveaway at stake, so click here to (potentially) grab your free ebook of Wayward!

Yay shameless plugging things!

EvilM00s

Shameless plugs are less complicated than shameful ones. Free your conscience!

Okay, I'm going to go ahead and post here about reading your book (instead of the other thread). ;o Just to keep everything in one place.

This isn't a formal review or anything, but just my outlook on the first 4 chapters that I got through with a little bit of reading this morning!
The book: Yes, there's some little grammar issues. Does it make nearly as much of a difference as that one reviewer said? Not at all. I was still able to make out the sentences and get the point. It really wasn't a big deal. B) I especially love the sizing of the font and spacing. It's easy to read for someone with horrible vision, like me. When the words are too tiny, it becomes a hassle.

As for the content itself: I have to say, this book is exactly what I like in a writing style. Everything is described in enough detail, but not bombarding you with unnecessary details. And when there are random comments thrown in there, they tend to be entertaining or interesting. Everything is very clear and concise in wording, and I especially like the use of short, to-the-point sentences.

The book carries a bit of humor and light-heartedness when necessary, but can also be very dramatic. I had no problem zoning out (even with the robotic voices of the the hosts of a news channel playing the background at my house). I was able to picture the characters well and use the given details to paint a landscape of what's going on. Well, except for the guy that has no idea what's going on himself, so that's obviously an intended experience. ;o

I can only delay my favorite aspect for so long: the character development. I was very pleased with the way the characters were presented - everyone was pretty unique. It was easy to get into the mood and be all like: "Uhm, mercenary girl? Stop being greedy, ok?" And then I realize I'm talking to fictional characters. Yeah. Let's not forget the precious, clumsy little goblin with an inferiority complex. Simply adorable!

And I'm already seeing this from just 4 chapters. Lookin' forward to the rest of it!
I tried to look for some more constructive criticism, but I honestly have no problem with anything right now (I mean, it's only been 4 chapters, but still!). So far, the only issues are little grammar-related ones. The story seems absolutely awesome and has quite a bit of charm to it!

(Whenever I finish reading it, maybe I'll be able to write out a formal review and make a post or something fancy like that.)

Yuyu, you win for most encouraging ever.

Thanks for your 4 chapter review and I greatly look forward to your full thoughts on the book!

(and yes, maybe I shouldn't post about Wayward in every board here on rmrk, k?) :p

yuyu!

Books take time and dedication to complete, so it's only fair that you should be excited about it! In fact, I wouldn't be opposed to you referencing to it in your signature. Always good to get your name out there!

I didn't have much reading time until today, and I got to about Chapter 9 or something. I'm about 50 pages in, and things are progressing nicely. The grammar errors have gotten a bit worse, but I still think they ain't so bad. It's not like it alters my opinion of the great story. B) And it's not impossible to read onward, since most of them are minor issues like a missing comma or a little word that forgot to get deleted.
By this point, I can certainly see the more dark aspects of the story. I was actually really shocked at a certain chapter (with the General). Things got very dark and depressing, but I actually kind of like that. It adds on with the light-heartedness of the story quite nicely. It made me feel anger towards a certain character and the book depicts just how crazy he really is.

I'm glad you're enjoying the book! And yes, I was trying for lighthearted around some characters (don't feel too bad for Stinkrunt) and definitely wanted people to think the general was near crazy.

And thanks for the review. I thought it was very kind.

yuyu!

I just got some more reading in today! Just wanted to update and let you know what I'm thinking so far, again! B)

The story is really picking up speed! :gracie: I'm not as far as I'd like to be, but I'm still about 1/3 of the way there, I think. Life got in the way and stuff. Or maybe a lack of a life, who knows? ;9 By now, I can clearly see how the plot is unfolding! :ladyj: And I bet I know who the bad guy is behind all of this.

It's good to see the plot shift from Good Harbor to the rest of the world! I was starting to get a little claustrophobic on that island. ;9

Also, I adore the dwarves. ;o;
