It's just a cashier position but it's the first paycheck I've had in over a year so I'm really excited. :tpg:
With strike getting a decent IT job, it looks like things are finally starting to look up.

Rock on, dude! It's honest work, and just your paycheck can buy a lot of food if you know where to shop.

And now that I think of it, wasn't there another obstacle to you getting a public job? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Yeah, I have a social phobia. But it's much better after getting some counseling and medicine.

Congrats!

Hope things go well at the new place of employment. What type of place is it?

Acolyte

Festival foods. It's a grocery store franchise up in the midwest area. Strike actually works there so he gave me a referral. Probably helped quite a bit with the hiring process. :P

Dwarra?

Dope! I think working as a cashier might actually help you out with your social phobia a lot!
I don't think I was ever afraid of talking to people, but I couldn't ever think of anything to say so I didn't either way. Once I got a job where I was forced to interact with people it got way easier and it was a confidence booster.

Good luck aco! ;o

Ryosis

Nice! I was a cashier once upon a time, back when I first moved out on my own. It's not glamorous, but it's honest pay, and it's pretty easy to get the hang of. :)

Is it a national chain, or more of a small business?

21 stores across two states. So yeah, not nearly as big as walmart or anything, but still fairly big.

Good job Aco, you two are turning into sophisticated adults

soon you'll have a house and a dog and a kid and a mortgage and eventually a boat

Right on, Aco! :) Is this your first cashiering job?

Being a cashier is pretty nice. There's always going to be that occasional douchebag, but those ones are quickly replaced by the cool customers. ;o Basically the worst thing you have to worry about is people that try to short change you. I've had people try to pull that one on me a couple times (along with a couple other obvious and awful scams), but it doesn't happen very often now that there's more awareness around it.

I was gonna say... I'm only 300 miles* south of you and I've never heard of Festival Foods. However, the next time I visit my relatives in Pepin County I'll look for one, just because you both work there!

I'm glad to hear you're breaking your barriers!

*268, actually...

I worked for a month at kohls in the kids department. They'd make me run the register sporadically. They weren't very well organized. It was a terrible place to work. ;9
