QuoteGeoffrey Portway, 40, has admitted to carrying out the plot in the basement of his Massachusetts home and prosecutors want him to face 27 years in jail.

Pictures that emerged today of the torture chamber show a steel cage, a child-sized coffin, handcuffs along with a set of butcher's knives.

The room was also fitted to be soundproof and had a double-locked basement room.

Briton Portway, who is due to be sentenced next Tuesday, said he had spent months discussing kidnap and murder online with American Michael Arnett.

He pleaded guilty to soliciting the kidnap of a child along with the distribution and possession of child pornography in court in May.

Court documents filed yesterday described the crimes of Portway as some of the 'most vile and heinous crimes' known to society.

The papers, obtained by the Boston Herald, said: "Portway has pled guilty to some of the most vile and heinous crimes known to our society, namely participating in the sexual exploitation of young children through the possession and distribution of child pornography and soliciting the kidnapping of a child for the purpose of killing and consuming that child."

The papers from the prosecution also claimed that Portway had conversations with conspirators across the country including now-convicted Ronald Brown.

The prosecution say puppeteer Brown had planned with Portway to kidnap children he knew through work he conducted with his church.

The Boston Herald claimed that Brown had sent Portway a picture of a child with lines on it "to identify the different cuts of meat."

The FBI first began investigating Portway in 2012 after he was linked to an internet chat room related to cannibalisation and child rape.

Portway has not been charged in relation to any kidnappings or killings.

This makes me so sad, even though he was caught before going through with it, it's still such a terribly awful thing to think about. My children will never go outside

Jesus christ what the fuck
At least he was caught before he could do anything. I can't even comprehend how people like this exist.

It's also been confirmed among his possession of literally thousands of images and videos of child pornography were photos (not his own of course, since he never got this far) of children being prepared and cooked. What the serious fuck how and why and sadness

Sentence this beast to death.

Nobody harms children in my court.

Nobody.

Seriously.

Whoever plans to do (or does) something like that deserves to die a horrible, painful death.

I haven't seen any recent news (most articles about this are 2 days old) but last I saw they were only suggesting he gets 27 years in prison, even though most everyone is clamoring to give him a life sentence at the least as a 27-year sentence is relatively light.

I think I remember seeing this a while back. They also showed some documents detailing the investigation.

I would think this is obvious, but it's not fun reading.

I wish you could see the look on my face; I sure can't describe it. I really hope that he gets a psych eval and passes. Toss him in general population and see how long he lasts. Now THAT'S justice.

Whatever it is, no punishment could ever come close to being enough for this horrible excuse of a human being.

My first reaction is the same, I admit. But let me posit this: isn't the reason we despise this individual because no one deserves to have their life threatened by anyone else? This is the only issue keeping me from saying "kill him now."

Just sayin'.

Specifically, the act of threatening the lives of innocent children is why I despise him. The difference is that this man isn't innocent at all: he's a monster.

He is also someone's child, and his life is being threatened. Despite the awful reality of his premeditations and the high probability of his parent(s) being shitty, I'm willing to bet that said parents are facing his possible incarceration with the kind of sadness and panic that any parent would feel for their child had they been targeted by him. Is this karma? Is this justice? Is it the Law's job to decide? Or is it ours? And if it is ours, what does that say about us that we call for execution? Perhaps it's no wonder that our society has people like him in it when we condone killing.

That having been said, were I in charge there would be no time wasted. He would be put in a cage for the other animals to tear apart. Vacillation:zero. I can't help but feel good about wishing that on him. Not an easy issue for me, I guess. :)

My earlier statement was a bit of a hyperbole, but I at least hope this guy gets locked up for a LONG time (forever, please ).

I don't think there's a death penalty in his state, though. :o But I could be wrong about that.
Then again, society seems to condone violence and killing in many other ways, as well. Nowadays, violence is pretty much becoming a form of entertainment. :o But my views on that are still a little unsettled.

I would think that if his inmates got wind of what he did, or was planning to do, he'd probably be safer off outside of prison.
