I agree. Here's an interesting tidbit picked up from December's issue of Nintendo Power, though - there was an interview with one of the higher-ups who work on the Mega Man series (not Keiji Inafune himself, but another guy who is way up there, but I forget his name) as a tribute to little Mega's 20th anniversary this year.
He admitted that a game idea he's always wanted to do but hadn't been able to fulfill as of yet is a fighting game where every version of Mega Man is together in one game and fighting each other.
So basically, Smash Bros., but with a ton of Mega Man characters instead of Nintendo characters. He didn't sound confident that it would ever come into fruition, but the idea is still out there and it sounds pretty frigging sweet to me.
