Help Escape (rm2k)

I want to make a spell so that when the hero uses it, they will be teleported to the beginning of the maze.  I know in the spell tab there is options on what kind of spell.(norm. teleport escape etc.) However when i choose escape and let my heros learn it, they can't use it. When i'm in a battle, I can't use it. When I am just walking around in a maze, I can't use it either. I don't know what my problem is.
