Character Maker 1999

 Hi! I am using character maker 1999 to draw my characters.  In game my character background is white and I cant fix this. I have tried to paint the background different colours but it didnt work. What do I have to do? And there is no helpfile included although there should be.

LOS told me this.
If you got photoshop, use the magic wand tool to make the background transperent.
Atleast thats what LOS told me.

 It seems that I have to pay for the photoshop. Cant I just download it for free somwhere?

GIMP is a program, similar to PS, but GIMP is free.

Also, when you import the graphics, are you making sure to click on the transparent color?
