This is my sister Chrissy receiving a flag for her husband Jon last october. The little kids are my niece and nephew, Kaylie and Xander. When I was there, you could tell that even the woman giving the flags was trying her best not to cry.
(I didn't add the caption, but I just wanted to add this one because you can't see kaylie in the other one, and she looked just precious ;__;)
I don't have much to add, but my sister posted this on facebook recently and I thought it was rather poignant.
"This is how I feel today & most days. Utter heartbreak & overwhelming sadness, but even greater for my two innocent Children sitting beside me. They have experienced grief so significant that it altered them greatly in so many ways. My Kids will always be without & missing their Dad. And I will always be there loving them enough for both of us. Jonathan- you have left us with a hole in our hearts that can NEVER be filled. We will always love, miss, treasure & Honor you. You are our Angel & our Hero. Never forgotten & I will continue to fight to bring you & Landon home."
(The "bringing you & Landon home" thing is about finding their remains. Military doesn't want to waste the money to scour the red sea.
