I like the black and white thing, i'm downloading it now.

I was very impressed by how this game presented itself. It's boldly unique, and I hope to see some new revisions later on down the road. :3

We shall see!

I am re-building the game from the ground up, at the moment. Far easier for me to start fresh when adding new content. The old areas and ideas will be reused, but I am tinkering with a better introduction and game flow. I am also writing up setting information to give everything that is going on some context. That textual portion should be up within the next day or so.

The following image is a screen capture of one part of the introduction, displaying a system error. The system in question will of course be explained in the setting information. Almost every portion of the error is animated and glitching, but I did not feel everything was far enough along to create a video.

Would you call this high contrast black and white?

Well, it is certainly high contrast, though I think of the style as black and white monochrome. But, either describes the style correctly, I think.

EDIT : Instead of a video, I decided to create an animated GIF of a near finished section of the initial introduction. Mostly because I enjoy how it looks, heh.

Getting into the spirit of October, I thought that I would resurrect Dyssomnia from the grave and re-release the game with expanded content and interesting puzzles. So far, everything is meandering along nicely. With luck, I will be able to make a release just before Halloween!

The three rules I set down for myself last year still apply : all graphics must be done in black and white, the entire game must be under fifteen megabytes in total size, and the project must be stand-alone (no RTP requirement). The new rule I have placed on myself this year is that there can be no un-encoded text displayed on the screen during any part of the game. This includes the menu screen (if I use one), but not the title screen ... at least, not yet.
