Have you ever noticed that some members have blatant advertisements in their signatures for the oddest of products, or will flood certain boards with similar and nonsensical posts, or create new threads consisting only of already existing posts somewhere?
YOU'VE ENCOUNTERED A WILD SPAMBOT.
Spambots, as most of you should be obviously aware, are automated bot programs designed for the sole purpose of doing exactly what it sounds like: sending out spam. The reason I'm pointing this out is that we've had a large number of spambots get around our registration setup lately, and some members have a fond interest in starting up conversation with the spambot or about the spambot's post. This is a gentle reminder that they are not humans, nor do they have the intelligence to respond to you. In all likeliness, their posts are going to be deleted as soon as a moderator finds them. Therefore it is recommended that you do not start up conversation with them; it makes you look kinda stupid after the spambot's post has been deleted, if your own post isn't deleted as well.
If you find a spambot wandering about on the forums, please report its post (if it's not flooding the forum and making itself obvious) and generally ignore it otherwise. It will be exterminated taken care of as soon as possible.
This topic is brought to you by THE OBVIOUS, stating what shouldn't need to be said since the dawn of idiocy.
