How to understand Rep

I was just wondering about the rep on forum profiles. I don't really understand what the / in the middle means, and why it can be + on one side and - on the other.

Try looking at other topics first. There's literally 2 other topics that were created in like the past week asking the same thing. 1 specifically about rep and the other ended just talking about it, or something.

P.S. + someone likes you, - someone dislikes you. Obvious? No? I don't get your brain.

I am using my admin powers to wreak havoc on the rep system. It now shows it as a total instead of + and -. REVOLUTION!

I'll change it back eventually
