Hi, just randomly came up with this, thought it sounded kind of like an 8-bit style game.

I know what you mean about it sounding like an oldschool game, but it is a little off kilter and randomized whereas it could be a bit more constant in style to work in a game

thanks, I'll work on it. really it's just random notes with a rest in between and I filled in the spots were there are rests, so I'l work on it.

It is random notes, but strangely shaped into a semblance of a chord progression.
You can kind of hear an implied A minor -> E minor -> F major -> D minor underneath it.
Go ahead, play those chords along with it.

Anyway, this confounds me. I can't tell if you're experienced and just experimenting, a genius, or don't know anything about writing music and just got lucky.

If you're the later, try adding chords underneath. And vary the rhythm so it's not 8thNote-8thNote-8thNote-8thNote-8thNote-8thNote-8thNote-8thNote-8thNote-8thNote-8thNote-8thNote-8thNote-

ok, when I hear this, it reminds me of that aladdin game for the Genesis... I could totally see this as music for the dungeon or cave of wonders level for some reason...

If you're using fruity, which I think you are, it seems like you just used the auto-feature and added variations and some other effects and whatnot... not a bad method to start with, but you have to build onto that... add some more tracks to it, rather than just the keyboard, and also tweak it to sound more melodious rather than the medley of notes that it resembles now...

I think it will take some work (about 30 mins to an hour) but it will sound very nice when finished.

I was giving him advice on how to make this what you would call music, yet you say that it can't be because it is a short loop. You know what else is a small loop, elaborated upon properly? Dance music.

Although that is what I quoted, it was only due to the fact it was your lastest post and therefore handiest. I only select the correct quotes when it's worth my time. This time, it was not.

However, the reason I was upset with you was because, despite having better things to do with your time, you still find a few moments to post in a thread to tell others to be less helpful.

I found that rather strange and a bit mean spirited that you would take time out of your busy schedule to basically tell someone to give up, and telling others that he shouldn't get help.

All I did was point out that it was just eighth notes, which is true, and that they were random, which was what they sounded like. I never said to give up, or told him anything mean. The implication is that this cannot be anything more than eight notes. That even thinking about such a thing is stupid. It is not the explicit statement, but it is definitely a strong undertone.

However, the point remains that I was giving advice for him on general, starter music-making. I was letting him know that is was something to start on, but was not a finished product in and of itself.

This advice was replied shortly thereafter by you, claiming that I shouldn't bother talking about it, as it was only 8 notes, and that obviously meant that all advice would be lost on someone who would post this loop up. Again, not the explicit, but the implication.
