RPGM 2000 Start New Project Error

I've recently gotten my hands on RPG Maker 2000, but I run Vista. I've already found the solution to my original problem (RM2K wouldn't install). But now whenever I try to open a new project, it tells me it's failed. I cannot find an answer to this no matter how hard I look. Can anyone help me please? Thanks in advance.

Please take a screen-shot of the error message and post it here. The only thoughts I have without seeing the error message is-
1. Run as admin
2. Compatibility mode
3. Use XP or VX instead

as soon as I press it to save that's what pops up.
I've tried the first 2 options, I guess all that leaves is the last. Vista is a pain..
