Best Free Websites to Host Your Games

If you've created a game you want to share with the world. but don't know where to upload it to, this is the thread for you.

Feel free to suggest your own. If they're decent enough, they'll be added.

I feel the thread Christina made back in 2006 is a bit outdated. She did a great job, but she's not around to update it, and the internet is constantly evolving. Instead of trying to edit her original post, it's better to just make an entirely new thread.

Mediafire - 200MB max - Mediafire offers a quick to use interface, a fair amount of max file size, and no waiting times.

Sendspace - 300MB max - Sendspace is quick and easy to use, has a max file size of 300MB, and no waiting times or captcha.

Megaupload - 500MB/2GB max - Megaupload is quick to use, has a max file size of 500MB for non-members, and 2GB for members. The only downside to this website is the 45 second wait time when downloading files.

Dropbox - 2GB max - This one has a different concept than the rest. You must sign up for an account and install their software. To upload files, you drag and drop them into the public Dropbox folder that's created on your computer, which allows files to be uploaded to Dropbox's server. When they're uploaded, you can right click and copy the direct link. Direct links are usually preferred because the download starts right when members click on your link. Your max storage space for the account is 2GB.

Or you can make your own server or something and upload it there. Then you have somewhere to have your games and also have the website for the game.

You could do that, but this thread is intended mostly for retards who don't know how to upload their games. Chances are those same people don't even know what you just said about creating your own server. lol

A non-premium member of megaupload (i.e. free or logged in normal user) can download files from megaupload up to 1GB. So 1023MB max =o

You could also use, Bravenet.com, they allow you to upload a lot and even have a unique flash website builder.

Webs.com also is good, but unless you know CSS very limited.

Uploading a game through creating your own website using webtools and stuff is unnecessarily complicated :police: might aswell just use megaupload.

Oh, that isn't complicated at all. Not since it is almost just like making multiple word documents with text and images. Harder than that it isn't. And if you find it hard at first, spend like 10-20 min with the editor and learn it.

Free0Host is great. You can use FTP also if you want. FTP is faster than using the online file transfer.

These are two of the best places to host RM games, imho.
