Lighting Effects please help?

I used this Lighting Charset and when i test played it my character always walks through it, What i wanted for the Lighting is if the Hero walks through it that it would shine on Them but it Doesn't can someone help me...

ou should take a look here. it will help ou making the effects. also, if you do them correctl, it will work =)
