Well, seeing as this is your first game, the idea ain't half bad. The only thing I'd definitely change if I were you is the 14 year old heroes. Kids saving the world is a really old and annoying cliche. Also, screenshots will be your best friend for getting people to download the demo or take a closer look at your project.

Yup, I'm uploading the screenshots right now... (Just couldn't figure our PRS on Bootcamp)
And as for the 14-year-old characters saving the world, this game as almost nothing to do with saving the world, as so much, as discovering another human civilization... guess I should explained that a bit more...

EDIT: OH! And I'm planning on making the character's age at some point in the game.

NPC

Good points-
Story: Not enough to go on just yet, could be good, could be bad. From what I can tell it's not a rag tad group of adventurers fighting a 20 foot tall god-o-death in order to save the world.

Mapping: Pretty good, especially for VX, there were a few small errors, but over all pretty good.

Custom faces for emotions: This was cool... I liked it.

Bad points-
Story: (Not enough to go on just yet, could be good, could be bad.) Seemed like it could turn cliche very fast, like how the "old man" mentioned the fire god in passing, made me a little skeptical.

Bugs: Got stuck, after Kasha told me to return to see there dads I couldn't go back in the house they were in because I "needed to check out the other house."

Mapping: I am not the best mapping critique but it is a pet pieve when you can go to the edge of a map with nothing happening, just like a big imaginary wall. Also, the canoe looked very odd, I would suggest just being able to walk to the other house.

Characters: Seem very cliche, the 2 (stubborn) teenagers who hold a secret crush for each other who don't belong on the mission, and the two strong older men (I am willing to place bets on who dies.) I would suggest if you do age them, do it periodically, instead of it feeling like "part 1" is when there young and "part 2" is when there old.
Why do 1 lined nameless NPCs never get taken seriously?
