When I'm reading the posts in a thread, getting the information needed to effectively make a reply, and I come across a split-quote post, I cringe. I can not stand these abominations, and I want to know how others feel about them. My main reasons for being against them is because they are a lazy, time-wasting, incomprehensible way to respond to somebody, and I can't take them seriously. I usually just skip over what the poster is saying, but that makes the rest of the thread confusing. Now, I have friends on here that post in this fashion, so it's not a personal thing. I just think that these things are another way to make typing on the internet something less than legible. What if you went out and bought a novel on the presidential debates, and on every page were quotes from earlier in the book, and one line responses to them. That book would fucking suck. Even if it was the most informative book ever written, nobody would want to read something like that.
