Help With Quest issues.

I am Making a game and I am having a lot of trouble with one of the quests. What the quest basically is, is that your character talks to a wood chopper and he asks you to bring him 5 piles of wood... Now the issue I have is how do I make the character get the reward when he has 5 piles of wood in his inventory?  I don't know what I have been doing wrong can someone please help me?? Just tell me how to do it please don;t ask me to explain what I do cause I don't even remember.
