*eh hem*

Chobtis takes place in a futuristic society where there are computers that look like people, called "Persocoms". These computers have all the abilities of an average computer, but they can also talk, react, and act just like people, for the most part. Often, the only way to tell the difference is by their distinct "ears" where linking cables are often located. There are human-sized persocoms, which weigh a LOT (these would be "PCs), there are smaller persocoms you can carry in your hands (the laptops), and then there are really really tiny ones that don't often look like people, but more like some kind of abstract bunny-creature (these are equivalent to pocket PCs).

I've said too much though. You'll pretty much find all of this out during the series. What's important is the following:

Hideki Motosuwa is an average guy, who lived and worked on a farm most his life, (the farm wasn't shown in the manga) but moves to an apartment in the city to attend a prep school. He doesn't have much money, so unfortunately he can't afford a persocom. In fact, he can't afford many luxury items at all, except porn magazines and DVDs, but he had to borrow the DVD player.
One night Hideki passes by a female persocom tied up naked in bandages and just laying there, seemingly thrown out. Once he realizes just how awesome his discovery is, he picks her up and carries her home. Unfortunately, Hideki is horrible with computers, so handling a persocom is even more difficult. After he finally finds the switch and activates her, Hideki finds himself in the presence of a persocom who can only say "chi". He names her Chi, and the rest is too spoiler-tastic to reveal.
"Chobits" are a kind of persocoms, thought to be an urban legend. These persocoms are special in that they don't learn by installing software or programing personality data, but simply by observing, as a regular human does. Perhaps they also feel human emotions. But they're just a rumor, right?

Eh heh heh. You'll have to watch the series to find out. It's got a decent amount of comedy, romance, a good story, and a good ending. However I must warn you, this anime/manga series has its fair share of ecchi scenes. I wouldn't call it "ecchi-tastic" but it's definitely NSFW.

EDIT: Hideki and Chi

I watched this series on Animax some time ago and I have to admit it's pretty fun to watch.

I forgot to mention, the series has 24 episodes. 28 if you count 8.5 and 16.5, 24.5, and the Special.

Revo

I saw this for a while, but I kinda got bored of it. It was decent enough, I suppose.

I watched chobits =o Only the manga has nipples and stuff in it. The anime is ok though comes pretty close =o

I liked the show, would recommend it though it is a bit over-cutesy sometimes =o

I'm gonna sound like a noob, but what's ecchi mean? I'm guessing a step or two down from hentai--or lovey-cutsey-romantic type.

I liked other CLAMP mangas, and I haven't read this yet. I think I will, as soon as I have free wireless somewhere besides Pizza Hut with 30 seconds left to stay.

I've read a little bit, although i started on the anime and i've been too busy with other manga to pick it up again. the parts i read were damn good though, even if my poor innocence was shattered because of all of that...perverted ._o;;

I finally read Chobits!!

I thought it was really cute.
