Severe lagging

i need help. One day I was on my computer and I test player rpg maker 2003. Then it started lagging severly. Nothing was running other than that and my graphics card is up to date. What can I do??

Weird, it sounded like a Vista issue. Is it doing this -every- time?

Yes it does. 
I've tried everything. I've tried:
Changing the graphics settings to the lowest quality
Making sure only Rpg maker is running
deleting maps
making maps smaller

How many cores do you have?
