This is a little side project I've been working on the past couple weeks.  Just practicing rendering different materials using the default round brush in Photoshop.

Haha thanks man I appreciate that!

EDIT: You mean to post WIPs as the piece is in the process of being completed?

That looks great. I don't know about his arms though, they look a little short. But then again, I'm tired and I don't see properly when I'm tired. I'll look again in the morning :P

garygill

Yeah it's strange, they do seem a bit short.  But when I act out this pose in the mirror that is where my hands sit.

Dwarra?

The blade length is a little funky
Is it a knife or a sword?

Dwarra?

Daggers are the same length as knives, and traditionally are double edged

garygill

It's about the same length as a gladius.

Leventhan

Absolutely positively love the hair lighting and texture!
That's just super awesome!

And the whole picture itself, is just 10/10.

Be kind, everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

Zylos

The tiny, intracate details that you put on the handle of the weapon are incredible.
Once again, you've proven that you are a master artist.

garygill

Sweet!  Glad you guys like it!

Arwym

The proportions are right.  There is something called foreshortening (I think that is the word), guys.  Also, he has so much hair that it makes his head look bigger than what it really is.  But when you look closely, the proportions are right.

Wonderful job.  Especially with the hair and the blade's handle.  :)  And the coloring.  Because I can't color to save my life.

You are so worthy of admiration.

garygill

Thanks for making me feel better about myself.  Had a horrible day today. =(

Sort of but not really, haha.  The person is loosely based on me.  Also, in real life my hair is much longer.

Seriously thanks for the support guys.  I'm just glad yesterday is over.

@Levent - Thanks for the offer but I would rather just forget about it.

Esmeralda

What Arwym said about that hair is true. It makes the head look a bit bigger.

There's nothing else that's "bad" to say about this ;( awesome work once again :O
