Actually, no one would of said 'OMG TEH GRAPHICS' If the developers didn't try and make the graphics good.

Also you pointed out what people other than deveopers think about graphics before I gave that example. Please don't play Devil's Advocvate.

Arkbennett

Final Fantasy 8 was made a year or so after 7 and it did have a significant improvement graphics wise.
I seriously doubt the developers threw in all their chips for graphics.

I don't  understand your question.

SexualBubblegumX

Considering how the FMV looked I'd say they a very signifigant effort into the graphics. Also The fact FF8 had better graphics doesn't mean Square wasn't trying to make the graphics good. When they made FF8 they had a better understanding of how to make games for the PS1.

Also if by question you mean 'don't play Devil's Advocate' . I'm pretty much saying, please don't play both sides, which to me it seemed liek you were doing so.

Arkbennett

Your not making sense anymore.
FF8's FMV's were clearly better than FF7, so how could they not put effort into 8's graphics, but according to you, that's all the effort they put into 7 even though 8 beat it graphically in every way.

Not only that, it's agreeable that both 7 & 8 both had very good storylines. (To the general public)

I'm not playing Devils Advocate when we're not even talking about the main point of this debate anymore.

The point is: Final Fantasy 7 is over a decade old now. It's age exceeds my 5 year old little sisters twice over.
I think it's safe to say, it's an old game.

SexualBubblegumX

I was making perfect sense, it just seems like you weren't paying attention.

In this case age alone will not make the ps1 'old'. Sure it's ober ten years old, but it is FAR from the golden age of games where graphics weren't an issue. For a game to be old it does have to be from that time when graphics weren't a priority. Whether you want to admit it or not, the PS1 started the whole 'graphics are a priority' issue that in gaming now. It is NOT old because the ps1 CONTEMPORARY.

/aguement done.

Arkbennett

I'm paying perfect attention.
Your ignoring the fact that FF8 beats 7 graphically, and saying that the developers for 7 put more effort into graphics than they did 8. That makes no sense, and you know that so you resort to blaming my ability to interpret what you say. And I don't think 'graphics are a priority' isn't the black plague of this day and age in gaming as people say. I believe it's more of shitty ass script writers than anything. When you produce games, everything is set in divisions. It's not like RPG Maker where it's one entity making a game.

And the PS1 is NOT contemporary, it was made in 1994 and the Super Nintendo was made 1990. The only thing seperating their generation is a few years. Your saying a console from 1994 is currently in 'our' age? In 2008? That's mental.

I agree, debate is over.

SexualBubblegumX

I NEVER said that more graphical effort was put into FF7. You clearly are not paying attantion.

And yes it is contemorary because it has the the conteporary attitude that graphics are number one on the to do list. You're the one whose logic doesn't make sense here.

Also to get back on topic, I want to replace Alias with Zero on my list.

I heard that FF7 was originally meant to be on the N64.

The Ps1 was kinda contemporary.  It was obviously mean to replace the large box that was released around the same time N64. Kinda like the downgrade  version of the ps2 that was a fail.

I disagree, I don't think that was it's purpose.
Think about it from a buisness sense:
Would you rather make a product on par with other competiting products?
Or would you make a product that is better with other competiting products?
Better product, more profits.

FF7 was origionally meant to be on N64, since every other final fantasy was on a nintendo console at the time, but the cartridges didn't have enough space fo fit the whole game so they put it on disks on the ps1. If it was on N64 the graphics would have been so much better. Although i'm not sure if an n64 can run cinematics.

You read it, how was I supposed to know that this was an old topic?
Well I didn't know this forum was so dead that a thread on the first page would be a dead thread. I'd pay attention from here on, I suppose.
