Sorta inspired by Call of Duty 4, basically this soldier has been shot but pulled out his side-arm and shot is attacker, and is on the verge of death.
Criticism/comments on eyes and coloring especially appreciated, but anything else you can think of, feel free to say.

He looks a bit to calm and emotionaless to be on his last stand what do u think? I love the artwork, its reallly inspiring, I actually want to ask you, if theres any way I could get you to do a drawing or two for me.
Monkeys work better than zombies.

Lord Dante

well, it's more of a post-intensity drawing, but I suppose I could work on putting him in more anguish... Dunno. Now that I look at it, it seems as if he's accepted his fate and is just like "eh, whatever." I suppose that sort of stoic-ness doesn't really fit on a soldier that looks so young, but i'm still developing the finer points of my style, such as variation between emotions and depiction of age/experience.

About your request, PM me about it and we'll see. My life has been sorta busy, but besides that I don't see why I couldn't do something for you.

It would be better if he had a lampshade on his head, but still great nonetheless. Now all you have to draw is some asshole killing him with a flash grenade.

Lord Dante

hehe.
Lampshade.  ;)
That one is in the dark still.

Heh. I was thinking more shooting a grenade launcher directly at him, but that one works to.  :P

Dwarra?

Haha, I made this my desktop btw <3

In my opinion he doesn't have enough emotions.  I'd have a big scowl on my face if I was waiting to shoot someone after I was shot in the stomach.

he already shot (note the smoke), but I'll take that into account. Actually, I'd probably have a scowl after I shot somebody too.

=D

Nice, I like this a lot.  His neck seems a little long, though.  Also you can still convey the sense that he's just accepted his fate while still giving him a wince of pain.  It'll make the image a little more powerful.

Lord Dante

True... Well, I shall attempt to convey a 'wince' then... I'll post it when it's done. Chances are I'll also redo the eyes, as they bug me.

Edited first post with new version and old (in spoiler) for comparison. Mouth still needs work.
Also...

Here you go, Dr. Sword. You inspired me.
(tell me what you think the colors should be, or if these are fine)

garygill

I think it looks much better now.

Lord Dante

thanks, me to. I redid his left ear, defined his hair a little more, redid (sortof) the smoke on the gun...and yeah. I think from now on   a primary step in my artwork will be figuring out what emotion i want to convey.

emidy

Yeah, the emotion in the first post is better. Mouth still weird but cool!
I can never draw this cool... and the combination of colour in the second pic are just great.

Lord Dante

yeah, expressions (especially on the mouth) are one of my weakest points... but thanks =)

emidy

Oh did I used a wrong word? lol
BTW, there's one thing bothers me in the second pic, is that...eyes? Is he mad or sad? I don't know...

Lord Dante

That would be eyes cut out of a lampshade =P
So... Neither. It's just hard to make eyes with scissors and that material  :)

CartoonFan

Where have I seen this before?

Halo. I've seen this in Halo. The guy who was going insane and shoots at you with his pistol while he's laying against a wall.

Still, nice picture.

Lord Dante

I guess it's like that, but the armor is really just body armor. Also, it's kind of the natural way to shoot somebody if you've already been shot and are on the ground.
Well, one of them.
Thanks anyways.

Dwarra?

Dante, lampshades dont have tops

Lord Dante

Well, considering the guy is bald and the source of the shade's coloration, it isn't a top.
