irc.rmrk.net is just a DNS forward to the irc.acidchat,net hub. The hub will pass you on to a random (or whichever has the fewest users or whatever) acidchat server =x

The reason you're told to use irc.rmrk.net is so that if the channel ever moves again, you don't have to do anything

Er, you could try using the contact form on the AcidChat site or something for help. Paste any errors it gives when you try and connect.
