MIDI Help [RM2K3]

alright i've been using rm2k3 for awhile and i just got a new dell so i installed it.
When I try to listen to music or test play the game the only noises I can hear are sound effects.
The only time music has ever played in the game is when I had windows media player playing.
I deleted media player and the music still doesn't play.
Help?
