Making a basic quest help

I need help making a basic quest. For example, someone tells me they'll give me a potion if I kill a ghost. How would I do something like this? I've checked some guides but they're confusing me with all the switches and lack of screenies.

or you could go to youtube and they have video tutorials there even though they have some guy with an annoying voice... but they are good its what i used
