Rpg Maker xp for vista?

does the rmxp work for the vista? cause i got a new laptop with windows vista and then i try downloading rmxp and it says the rgss player has a problem it will contact you if it finds the problem and its been one day and i tried redownloading rpg maker xp and it still says the same problem is it my computer or is it windows vista please help
