Howdy Ya'll!
I'm having some troubles with my RPG making experiance.
For some strange reason I can't play Midi music! I'm trying to use RM2K3,
and my OS is XP. I can't preview the music and I don't hear it in the game.
Sound effects and everything else works fine. Not being able to hear any music
is going to take a lot out of any games I make.  :-\
Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

LOL, do you have any sort of sounds system?

Well obviously, but what sound system is it/is your sound card burnt out?

My speakers are a Sony Surround  :blizj: and, while I don't know what kind of sound card I have, my computer is a Sony Bio. I can play all audio (Including Midis), just not in RM2K3 (or 2K and XP) I should also make it clear that I'm not a novice to the RPG maker systems- I've been using them since RM95 came out, so I know my way around them pretty well.
Please somebody tell me how to fix this! I'm going CRAZY!

I should also add that I've already tried re-installing the program.

That's really weird.  Can't help you there,,don't have a single clue as to why that might be.  Double check the volume controls....but you probably already did that.

It happened to me too long ago in 2k3, about 2 years ago, but sadly i have no idea how it just one day worked :|

Your MIDI synth might be corrupted then.  ;9

STFU ALL OF YOU. ;8

None of you know what you are talking about~.

Okay, go to programs, accessories, entertainment, volume control. Make sure nothing is muted, namely the software synth.

SoopaNinja

Back with some updates on my progress!
I can't get to the volume controls on my computer.  ???
For some reason it's like they just don't exist. Wierd.
If anyone knows exactly what I need to DL to fix this I'd sure like to know.  ;D
Anyway, I've kinda found a way around it. It seems if I have Windows Media Player open (and playing a midi)
while RPG Maker is open I hear the RPG Maker Midi and not the Media Player midi.
It's odd, but at least I can get on with my game.
Thank you all for your help so far!

Well this seems to be a problem with RMXP, not your synthesizer. Is it just the music or like, any sound at all?

SoopaNinja

Just the music, and I'm using RM2K3. I don't really think that makes a difference, though.

Something in your volume control is indeed muted. This used to happen to me all the time.

SoopaNinja

Ahh, Nuts.
I can't get to my volume controlls.
Windows says they don't exist, although it kinda doesn't make sense.
How can that even be the problem if I can hear all different types of music
just fine? Any problem I have seems to be stemming from the program.

OR, look in the taskbar at the bottom right of your screen. Click the arrow to expand it, and you should see a gray speaker. Double click is your friend. :D
