RPG Maker 2003 battles - Help Needed!

With battles in RM2K3, How can you make the hero walk up to the enemy and attack it, instead of standing on the spot and just attacking? I have tried it before with previous 2K3 projects I think, so it can be done. I have also seen other people's 2K3 games with it too. Now I have forgot how to do it :( Can someone help me? I will be grateful if someone does, because I have stopped the process of my project just to do this. Many apologies if this topic has been posted before by someone else.

er, I've actually never seen that before, but I guess I could take a guess at how it works; make a custom battler but instead of having an attack move, have the character turn invisible instead. Create some battle animations that simulate the hero walking and attacking and then make a battle animation simulating that. Join the two.

This may be wrong and there might be an easier way to do this, just guessing~

Wrong. All wrong :D

In all of the items that your heroes can use as melee weapons, change their animation settings so they "Walk to enemy". There you have it! (yeah I know manually changing everything sucks, but get over it)

Also do that with skills you want the hero to walk up to the enemy.
Working on world of sorrow again.
