None of the games work for me!

Hey all, I'm new to the forums and the world of RPG Maker XP.  Back in the day I screwed around a little with RM2k, so a few days ago I got a little curious about if people were still using it, and much to my surprise I find that there have been two new makers released since then!

Anyway, I'm very anxious to see what RPG Maker XP games are like, but I can't seem to get any of them to work.  When I click on Game.exe (that's what I want to do, right?), a blank window pops up for like five seconds, then goes away.  That's it; no error messages or anything.  I've searched though the Troubleshooting forum here, and it seems like some people have had similar problems, but none of their solutions have really applied to me.  Also I should mention that at least one of the games I downloaded was supposed to be stand alone, so I shouldn't have to download the RTP or anything like that (I think).

I feel like I have to be missing something obvious, but I can't seem to figure it out.  Someone please help me; I just want to play your cool games!

You can get the trial of RPG Maker XP or go to Crankeye.com the forums main site and download Postialty Knights edition(basically the free pirated version)....although I have heard of some compatibility issues with the Commercial RPG Maker and Postiality Knights version

how did the person send the game over?
if they sent it right and you put the correct files where they go, then you dont need anything.

Actually I've tried several different games, including one from this site (Maia 2k7), and every time I get the exact same thing- a blank window that closes after five seconds.  It sucks.

Nope, good old fashioned XP.

Er... I think so?  I downloaded it from the RPG Maker website but all the instructions were in Japanese, so I'm not exactly sure if it installed correctly.

if you installed it from enterbrains site, it should be under "C:\\Program Files\Common Files\Enterbrain\" if I'm not mistaken
(don't copy that, I probably got a name or two wrong)

if not, I think you should just install XP
it's fun, and if you messed with 2k then you should learn it real fast like.
(of course only if you actually want to make games)

Try doing this if you DONT have dial up because might take a while but look up rpg maker xp on google then download from one of the three sites. Once downloaded install RTP and RMXP then run RMXP

Arg!  I downloaded the PK version of RMXP from this website, and I tried making a simple test game, and I can't even test it out!  I have the exact same problem as before (a blank window that just closes itself), even when I do a test play from inside RMXP!  What is going on?

Oh, Im not sure because I run full version I cracked but apparently the PK version has lots of bugs in it so its probably to do with the version you running
