well to answer that question i should be telling you just this one thing:
use the fog option.
(wow... was that shocking?)
which can be done in the tilesets section of the db or in event commands (change map settings)

people , some questions are acceptable, they require thinking.. sort of ...

but asking questions SO DUMB THAT THE ANSWER IS CLICK ON A FREAKING BUTTON IS SERIOUSLY ANNOYING
holy shit my sig was big!

What blue said, and also... Isn't this in the FREAKIN HELP MANUAL! I think it is, look there before asking a question my brother can work out!
(He is only 8 and he knows how to make a good working game all by himself, *sniff* *sniff so proud of him! )

*Sighs* Newbies these days. Make an parralel process event in the room you want the fog to appear in, have the command, change map settings, fog, blah blah blah.
Then in the map that connects to the room (Example, a village connects to a house)
make a parralel process event making the map settings cancel the fog!

There is an easier way to do this but you are a newb so this seems like the only way you'd understand!

fog stays, you don't need a para...
like i said THERE IS A BUTTON IN EVENT COMMANDS CALLED "CHANGE MAP SETTINGS"
may just maybe, the 2nd option, and i am only guessing, is change fog
and if that is so, maybe just maybe, to cancel the fog out you possibly need to remove the fog like you got it in...
but that's just me guessing...

also if you don't want to use events, you can copy paste the same tileset, making one with fog and one without...

(please don't say "omg where button show pictures to me" ... ~_~)
