My vote goes to Finale, because it's a rickety, poorly-programmed, over-complicated, overbearing, buggy piece of shit.
I generally hate all those programs (and there are many) made by noobs who are just learning to program or sleazy twits and create some fake "corporation" image for themselves, and then offer trials of stuff that they want you to pay $76 or whatever ridiculous price for considering what the piece of shit actually does.
Stuff like, say a "flash ripper". All it literally does it go through a page on a site, find links / embedded objects of the filetype ".swf" and present them to you, touting that it's "ripped" or "hacked" or whatever.
WHAT
AIM
Before in Finale I was getting an error every time I opened the window where you put in where you want playback to start, among other things. It wouldn't let me change anything and gave me this retarded "PLEASE USE A NUMBER 1 OR 0" for this repeat thing. IT WAS A FUCKING 1! I EVEN CHANGED IT TO 0 AND YOU STILL COMPLAINED. Thanks to this error, it basically means that I'll never be able to play that piece from the first bar ever again in the files existence on my hard drive, since I can't save the changes I made in the window.
And now, for some reason, I can't get Garritan's Personal Orchestra instruments to play. They installed correctly. All 1 GB of the goddamn files are there. They just don't work!
And I can only use the program on this computer for 30 days because, even though I payed fucking $300 for the program (Yes, I actually bought it) I can still only use it on ONE COMPUTER AT A TIME. I actually have to hook my laptop up to the internet, open finale, and fucking "DEAUTHORIZE" IT in order to validate the Finale I installed on my desktop.
For a program I payed so much fucking money for, it shouldn't have retarded little problems like this, and I should be able to use it however the fuck I want to.
sounds like you have alot of rage there.
Worst program? Ummm...
Hm...
RMXP? :tpg:
I dunno. Idon't usually use programs unless there are good reviews for it...
...yes, I'm shallow like that. Sometimes.
So then, basically picking, I'd have to say the least-advanced (worst), is Paint, even though said program is still completely functional and useful. It just needs layers. And opacity.
Nooo. Why I love paint is it's absolute simplicity and total non bloatness.
If you want those things, use a program designed for that. Paint.NET is pretty good, and is a nice compromise between barebones MS Paint and behemoth Bloatoshop.
ah, thanks.
Is it better than Graphics Gale? (which is what I'm currently experimenting with).
I didn't mean its simplicity is bad, I was just saying that sometimes other features are more useful. Although, it's always nice to be able to take credit for a complex piece of pixel art done solely in paint.
ANY serif product i started out creating a website with these when i was quite young. the software soon didnt work and hellp support were less then helpful :(.
not sure it clasifys as a program but windows add or remove programs is horrible. :(

ooooh! Good one! I hate RealPlayer with a passion.
They're so unpopular and un-used, it's to the point where if someone puts up a .rm file on the internet, it's actually an INCONVENIENCE because then people have to go out of their way to download all this extra crap just to use it, when they could have, I dunno, just stuck to a file format that every standardized media player can already handle.
Trillian was pretty fucking horrible.
im with zypher trillian was crap, at first i liked it, then it disconnected and never worked again -_-.

Game Maker 7.
God, that thing sucked. It was so much "freedom," it made it too hard to create a simple game. Something a bit easier. :O
I don't think that makes the program "bad", it makes you a noob for not having a clue in using it.
It'd be like somebody getting TabIt but complaining, saying it's "shit" because they can't write anything decent in it.
solution: frooty loops LOL
Well, I know how to use Game Maker, it is a matter that I hate going through the tediousness of assigning what each and every thing must do. The matter of doing it with EVERYTHING gets so obnoxious I quit using it.
Mine would have to be Photoshop CS2....
The only reason why I'm using it is cause it has the history brush...why don't they have that on Elements 2.0? ;_;

there are a few that i really hate
outlook express
firefox
quicktime
gimp
gimp has crappy features and theres like 4 diffrent windows
firefox is the slowest browser that i have ever used
quicktime is crap compared to windows media player
outlook express is a useless program that just takes up space. JUST USE AOL MAIL!!!
but the WORST program in the world is AVAST it made my computer so much slower.(until i deleted it)
^ I found all of those void or funny.
Firefox isn't much faster than IE until you hit a well written site like this one or you've properly configured it and added attachments. After that, you really, really, REALLY see a difference. You'll hate yourself for using IE. Plus configuration only takes about an hour, at which point you're probably set for life.
I agree with Quicktime.
What kind of a goddamn browser plugin can't recognize tempo changes in midi files!?
edit: An hour of configuration? My firefox was greater than IE right out of the box, so to speak.

Ok, well, you can think what you want. (quicktime is annoying, though)
Photoshop:
Mainly, because it's a pretty normal program, that Adobe "wants" you to think it better than the rest...and it's like 300$...also, Dante, Paint.NET is better than GraphicsGale, in my opinion....
Outlook Express, for that matter, Windows in general.
Vista (present day, the one before Home Premium), everyone of my best fucking programs aren't compatible with it.
Internet Explorer is the mother of all shit. O_O
I liked GIMP, but the interface is too complicated. Yet it is possibly the best image-editor that costs $0.
People say MS Paint sucks, but I actually find it useful as program for simple drawing, doodling and oekaki stuff.
I don't like programs with extremely complicated GUI's and lots of cool graphics. Why make it look pretty and shiny? Who cares about that? I mean, I think what matters is if the program works fine or not. Let it do that it has to do, and end of it.
As for programs made by programming noobs, I gotta agree. Especially when it's a PHP application that requires user input and MySQL support. Don't release a web application that is going to get your website hacked in five minutes, for God's sake!
IE sucks. Oh, and I can't stand the version of Finale I downloaded... I mean bought. *whistles* I'm saving up for the 2007 version of Finale, which hopefully works better. It mutes itself. I don't know how, or why, but playback just stops working after like 5 minutes of working on a song. You have to close the whole program, then start it again.

Firefox is the fastest browser I've ever used.
Internet explorer, defiantly. it's a piece of shit browser that isn't customizable in any way, it comes with all these tool bars and shit you can't get rid of. Internet Explorer 7 won't work correctly with Comcast High Speed Internet, and it's so fucking slow. Also, microsoft tries to force that shit on us. I bet Bill Gates uses Firefox.
I hate windows media player!
The worst program I ever used... is Microsoft Paint.
It sure as heck isn't any Photoshop. Not even in the same league, in fact, it's a whole bunch of leagues behind.

Paint is good for making sprites and icons. Pixel stuff. It's a powerful tool when utilized in the proper way.
I needed another program to make icons with, but I suppose paint is alright for shrinking things, and pasting something on top of something for a quick laugh. I'm not saying paint sucks raw eggs, I'm just saying that it sucks more than anything else on my particular computer. I'm actually pretty certain that there are worse programs out there, but I haven't used them.
BitTorrent
Shittiest warez program ever.
Rune. . Shi. . Uh Runescape.
Its Client not only locks up, it doesn't always respont I hope it burns in a fire!. . .To DEATH!

Check out the icon shop, there, we make high quality sprites using MS Paint.
(Also, I prefer it to Photoshop, but GIMP is my favorite...Photoshop lacks certain tools I like...)
I would have to say the worst program I've ever used corresponds to the worst programming language I've ever used
Dr.Scheme...
so AOL managed to place a shortcut on my desktop from somewhere no idea why but meh. It reminded me of AOL and how annoying it is to remove their services i once had to do it for my father and it took me absolutely ages.

The whole topic is pretty long ago, but Paint is definitely effective. A case in point is Bio's pixel-drawn star scene.
My worst program would have to be... Vista
That's an operating system, buddy.
All RPG Makers.
While all of them have had great potential, THERE is always that feeling something or something(s) vital is missing.
I mean you can see the potential, but if it was so great why isn't it being fully utilised, there is plenty of people to do it..... it's been around long enough..... but I don't see much success?

What's missing? I see nothing missing right now. Secondly, I doubt that RPG Maker was the worst program you ever used unless you sucked crap and didn't get far.
Well then let me put it simply for you lol.
I have gotten further using Object Pascal (Delphi) and DirectX/Win32 API, how does that sit for you? :P.
In terms of what I feel is missing, making a game in general, what's easily available sense obviously not as easy.
Wtf is that last sentence? Also, if you suck at it, then that's your problem, not the makers of the Maker.
Your clearly not seeing the point at all.
While I can *begin* and *finish* a simple game in RPG Maker much faster and easier, there are *very simple* things I can do in a programming language and utilising the Win32 API/DirectX API that to me are so basic, and yet in RPG Maker it would seem there is not.
At least not yet that I have discovered.
Well, that's like saying using Win32, a penny saved is a penny earned but when you look in the big scheme of things, a penny isn't much compared to a dollar bill, let alone a couple 10s to 100s.
Well I don't have anything majorily against RPG Maker(s).
I just feel that there are things that should have been in it, that clearly haven't through it's entire history (same as I feel bugs in Win95 shouldn't be present in WinXP......).
I have probably had worse I just can't think of any other software that makes me feel like it wasn't polished for it's purpose, at the moment.
EDIT: I have 1 rep? Didn't even know lol.
Well, nothing can be perfect. If you expect something to be completely flawless, I'd say it'd have to be God and nothing else. There are bugs and there will always be bugs. Just some things have less than others.
Well being a programmer, I know that pretty well LOL.
But for it being a commercial piece of software, sold to the public to gain revenue, I would expect more from it.
I have seen free initiaves like this program that don't have these floors, however they are considerably more buggy (probably due to inexperience of the programmer(s)), but their also not trying to make money so.... lol.
I would actually put Game Maker as perhaps the worst for now, though it isn't modeled for a specific type of game there are some very basic things it either does very badly or not at all, not sure if the newer version resolves some of these issues.
I'm just factoring in how long these programs have been around, and the major lack of updates over time, there's just so much more, even minor things that I can do (and I'm by no means a professional making money off of my software, just a hobbiest), that could have been done.
I'm hoping in the future they gear up on this (maybe we should email them or something, give some suggestions, seen as they are doing an english release now).
Moo, everyone has their opinions. Chesso hates Rm for some unknown reason, maybe he sucks, maybe he doesn't like how the games look (you know, top view etc). It doesn't matter what they think.
WE Know rm is good, so it's good.
Nothing like that, I actually really like the SNES kind of look (sure there is better SNES RPG's, but I would kill to see a good one on the PC).
I'm simply talking from the perspective of programming (as I am a programmer, pretty sure I stated that more than enough), from that perspective with at least some experience in *programming* games, I feel I have at least a *little* room to talk :).
OHHHHHHHHH, now i get it.
Do you think RM is less of programming doing and more of just...bling bloo?
Eh, sorry either I'm not coming across right or you aren't too bright matey.
RMXP was made by programmer(s), ones I would assume have some sort of game *programming* experience.
I am a programmer, who also has some sort of game *programming * experience.
So from that derived experience, I feel I have *some room to talk* on the subject as they say.
You certainly wouldn't trust the words of advice about a serious medical procedure from someone who doesn't even understand what the medical problem is..... now would you? lol.

"some room to talk"? ???
Nobody makes good games with rpg maker, because they all suck at it. It's like blaming paint when you draw a crappy picture "PAINT MADE ME DO IT".
RPG Maker has some damn good games. Dark Eternal~
Dreamweaver. While it's still the best, for the past 3 versions it has had useless upgrade after useless upgrade. In fact the upgrades essensially make things more tedious! Or the latest version of Flash... instead of simply typing This = new Array(); you must type var Array:Number This = new Array(); Which one was simpler?
What about Java? An outdated language that colleges still teach. To make a simple line of text you need 10 strings of text. Plus there are 3 variations of the print command, that all do the same thing, but you need to learn when to use them.
@flash CS3, you can still use AS 2.0 you know rite?
@java, print, println and whatever else are different in function
print doesn't start a new line afterwards, so everything is on one line
println creates lines every time so you can make paragraphs
NAM.....
That's why other languages do the whole character thing.....
E.g.
MessageBox(0, PChar('Hello' + #10+#13 + 'weeee'), 'Title', MB_OK);
Been awhile since I actually programmed anything, but #10/#13, chr(10) and chr(13) etc for line break usually works everywhere (text controls, buttons, text drawing functions, hints etc etc).
Any of those free programs that last 14 - 30 days then you buy them for 30$. I end up only using it once then deleting it.
I get your point Chesso. It's okay that you don't like Xp but just dont put *these things* in the middle.
They are kunphuzing.
I use it, I don't hate it lol, just not fond of somethings that are missing is all.
Why does everyone seem to back into their crab shell and retake that they said they "hated" a program...
okies my last post disapeared but meh:(
anyway our school uses a company for all their computer gear. RM. their software completely sucks and fails because it doesn't communicate with windows or the hardware very well AND the hardware is just ugly and cheap. ive had to have had my user acount completely remade twice because rm cocks it up.
our school has just finished upgrading all the computer rooms so they have these:

println starts a new line yes, but so does \n. Two commands for the same thing.
I can still use AS 2.0 However, errors come up that would not have come up in older versions of Flash. You can even go back and use AS 1.0. I also don't like the new GUI. It's similar to what Flash has had since MX, but more cumbersome.
Ok my post dissapeared, and so did my 1 rep :(, lol.
Anyway as I said, I don't hate RMXP, I was replying on the basis of the topic name (which does not say anything about hating anything at all).
For example: I find Mario Party 8 to be the worst of the series thus far, I do not however hate it.
There we go :).
Oh and the above poster is right about CS3, it can be an extreme pain to migrate too, even if you try and use AS2.
