Question: for my new game: "Elemental Passage", which battle system should I use?
Option 1: rmxp default battle system
Option 2: Blizzard's Abs [action battle system] (it's like 'Zelda' games)
Option 3: Nick's Tbs [tactical battle system] (it's like 'Fire Emblem' games)

rmxp's default battle system
don't really need a description

Blizzard's Abs
It's like "Legend of Zelda games"
you don't go through a battle transition. there is no "Battle Mode" and no "Battle Screen". You fight on the map, pressing different hotkeys on the keyboard to attack, use skills, use items etc. when an enemy drops an item, the item apears on the map and you have to run over and pick it up.
this battle system also includes:
- running fast
- sneaking (walking slowly, for stealth)
- a mini-map
- a hud (showing your hp, sp, exp, etc.)
- jumping
- and blocking

Nick's Tbs
It's like "Fire Emblem games"
you do go through a battle transition. there is a "Battle Mode", and there is not a "Battle Screen". you fight on the map. all of your heroes go first (it's turn based). then the all the enemies, then your heroes, etc.

why is this an open topic? I don't see you saying that you wanted feedback, just vote since there is already a poll.

Use DBS, good ol' turn based battling. I hate ABS'es in RPG's, and I don't like the Fire Emblem battle system either. Old fashioned turn based battlin' is the way, mate!

people could bring up a good arguement for why they chose what they chose
it's also good to see people's opinions or arguements for/against something

btw, I think it depends on the story you are projecting with your game.
link to the storyline, I'll take a look, then I can give you a good idea what I think would look best

I think you should go for TBS. It's fun.

Here is my idea...

Default Battle System
- If you want to go for a classic feel.
- If you want to go simple.

ABS
- If your game doesn't include a lot of characters. (It could get confusing if 5 characters were onscreen)
- If you want a action feel.

TBS
- If your game has a lot of characters. (10-15 characters isn't strange for a Fire Emblem game)
- If you want a tactical feel.

Me personally, I pick TBS. Because I like thinking during battles.

since it seems that you are going for a militaristic feel with the game, I would definetally suggest TBS

maybe you're using the wrong syntax.
because everything works fine for me.
just read the directions in the script, it does a good job explaining things.
