=/ Instrumental, And it ain't there.
WHO ARE YOU TO SAY WE CAN ONLY HAVE FOUR FAVORITES? OR THAT WE CAN'T LISTEN TO SPEED METAL?!
You forgot Trance, Techno, Melodic Trance, Goa Trance, Hardtrance, Acid Trance, Gothic, Power Metal, Black Metal, Death Metal, Heavy Metal... Well, you get the point...
EDIT:
Dance, Folk.
Post-Hardcore, reggae, punk and classical/opera.
And Techno, Trance, Rap etc. aren't even music, they're something, thats for sure, but it's not music.
Just lol. Where is written that it's not music? You've never heard a decent Trance song obviously.
No techno uses notes and by my rules if it uses notes in cordination with each other then it is music

Oh, your pic reminded me to add emo.

LOL, perfect example of the repetetive, cliche, predictable talent lacking stuff I hate so much :tpg:
Punk, Metal, Ambient, Power Metal, and Emo. But only good Emo. Not shitty bandwagon bands like Hawthorne Heights and Fall Out Boy. Those bands can burn in hell. Im talking about bands like Red Animal War, and Cursive.

But isn't nearly every genre like that? I don't think calling a genre a cliche has much sense, since it's a genre: It just has to be like that to be within the genre. =/
Heavy metal. More THRASH.
Badmouthing Fall Out Boy? :'( You're getting a minus in rep for that one..

You get -rep for -ing rep because people don't like your little band.
Yay, more -rep! ^_^
Ya, don't -rep people for not liking your stuff..
I dislike them as well xD
and:
sum 41
Green day
Fallout boy
Good charlot
metallica ( YES I SAID I LIKE THRASH AND I SAID I DON"T LIKE THEM STFU)
ALMOST ALL NEW BANDS

I mean in the sense you can have a beautifully dynamic orchestral peice that blows you away and fills you with emotion, or you can have the plain obvious chord progression and techinque you always hear noobs with music programs churning out =o
Fuck genres.
My favorite music is the music that sounds good to me.
I agree with the emotional orhestra, but trance is not emotional music. It's supposed to sound "cool and fun". It's music you dance to, not music you actually listen to. Here are two more songs, they are both a different style. The first is my 2nd fav, the second is my fav song. :O

@arl: Yeah, genrelization sucks. :) But it's useful when you want to tell somebody "Have you heard that song?" - "No. Which genre is it?" - "This and that." - "I won't like it most probably then. =("
I should've known that you would like Fall Out Boy. You look like you could be in one of their videos making out with their bass player. Those guys are dicks.
Contemporary African
Blizzard, even in those situations, I don't pull genres. I say things like "ever listen to this band? No what's it like? It sounds like this other band. If you like that band, you'll like this band."
True, lol!

I go to that Point when it's about those bands and singers.
My favorite bands are Lost Horizon, Protest the Hero, Bjork, Rush, and David Arkenstone. You can see that I like a lot of styles.

Pete? I don't know, maybe if I was really drunk.
Although I wouldn't mind Matt from 'From First To Last' or Davey from 'AFI'.
Is Davey the one that looks like a queer?
Oh wait, they all do.
Actually, I like AFI. Not the old stuff, though.
This is Matt (http://buzznet-34.vo.llnwd.net/assets/users15/trini325/default/Matt_Good--large-msg-117374080155.jpg)
And this is Davey (http://cdn-71.cdn.buzznet.com/assets/users9/cindyway/default/afi--large-msg-113612440542-2.jpg)
I like AFI, too, but I don't like anything after The Art Of Drowning. To me, Black Sails in the Sunset is their best, and AoD is second.

That, and my taste changes too frequently to choose genres or favorite bands. I'll usually like at most 3 songs of one band/singer. More than 3 is rare.
My cycle:
Like a song -> Listen to it frequently (and nothing else) -> Find another song later -> Go back to 2nd phase
I feel really lame...
Jeez. It's very rare for me to NOT like a song from a band I'm already into.
Or, rather, it's rare for me to NOT like a song on a particular album that I'm already into.

Well I DO have those bands that I really really like and that I love all their songs on an album, but it hasn't happened in a long while (the last one was The Starting Line's Based On a True Story, but that was almost more than 2 years ago).
I played with The Starting Line a long time ago. They were nice people. That was one of the first big shows I ever played. It was The Starting Line, Finch, Brand New, and us.

Us meaning?
I used to be in a band. Well, two bands actually. My latter one was called Coat Of Arms. We broke up before we could really get widespread, but we played with some awesome bands, and played Warped one year. If you want to hear us, go to www.myspace.com/coatofarmsmusic (http://www.myspace.com/coatofarmsmusic)

Anything with fancy guitars, fast and intricate drumming, lots of bass and a throaty scream (with a sexy voice occassionaly) is fucking good for me.
