Religion: Neo-Pagan Witchcraft

I know that most practices and beliefs vary per witch. Do you chant spells often (or at all)? If so, what types?

One of my sisters is really into Witchcraft. She likes to perform protection spells, for the most part. And other helpful, little spells. Nothing to attract bad karma, of course. She only uses helpful magic.

That is how it should be. Yeah, practice and even ethics vary from witch to witch, even within the same coven. As for me, I cling to a lot of Bardic tradition- use of poetry and song to educate and if push comes to shove, satire.

Now that's fun stuff! I've read some about kitchen witchery (that might be about the same as making oils, but I could be wrong).

My sister has done some healing enchantments before, and it's been really effective. The tough part is that everyone gets the idea that you're evil and satanic, but in my opinion, anyone that heals/inspires/helps anyone in any positive way is a good person.~

Lots. I use the Waite-Rider deck; perhaps trite, but it speaks to me. Runestones and Ogham also found their way into my Crane Bag, but the Runes are mostly for blessings and amulets. Say... care to move this conversation to a different thread?

Oh, so I'm not the only one around here, huh? xD I use the Druid-Craft Tarot Deck, but also have the Mystic Dreamers and a Renaissance deck. The Druid-Craft one speaks to me pretty well, because it's spiritual in a very natural way. The Dreamers deck does well to appeal to my more colorful side. xD My sister has been a reader for about 10 years, and she taught me how to read cards about a year ago. I'm at this stage where I know I'm no veteran card reader, but they really speak out to me, so to say. I really, really love Tarot. xD

I've also done some I-Ching, which is not too shabby. I think I may have done one rune before, but I could be mistaken. I have quite the collection of magic rocks, though. xD Like, good luck, health, chakra, aura (etc).

What are your thoughts on Astrology? I wasn't very into it until I learned about the other signs.

Astrology is pretty cool. Unfortunately, I find that the European system is flawed unless you either A: do a complete star chart, including birth year correspondences, or B: compare with other systems, like Chinese astrology.

If you take the basic concepts of each system, a "tourist" approach if you will, I suppose they work well enough, but there are many "holes" in them which I think leads to the average person's distrust of the systems.

For example, I'm a virgo with pisces rising. This should make me nice and sensitive and artistic- which I am, true- but it's sometimes overruled not only by virgo's logical nature, but by fire snake's need for conflict and retributive nature. Hissssssssss! Then when you add in the planets in question, they modify the prediction further, modified my the season- it gets sticky.

And besides, ANY divination is at best 80% accurate because the threads of fate are too numerous for Human understanding, and there's a lot we just can't see. All it takes is one slip in the stiching and the whole tapestry is changed.

Dreams reflect this well. In any given dream, sometimes you experience the same scene over and over again with minor variations. I believe dreams have to do with the convergence of mind and spirit, and it is the whispers of that realm which we see in dreams as our fallible minds can process. Even there, realities shift and are made and unmade so quickly it boggles the dreamer.

Ever done any dream interpretation, or even lucid dreaming? (My coven called thet "Dreamwalking", I guess they liked fancy names.) Just how well DO you hear the divine when it speaks to you through that medium?

Oh and runes are easy, I'll tell you how to make them later!

I can see where there's room for doubt with astrology, but just by looking at a couple planets, it's got me down pretty well. xD There's no joke with how well my signs describe me. I like to think each planet stands for something, and that rules how you will act when under that planet's influence. Like, whenever I'm unfamiliar or wearing a "mask" (my ascendant/rising) is Capricorn. I'm literally a completely different person. I get all serious, stiff, and quiet (etc). D: Of course, I think they can have more than one influence at once, I've noticed. :p That does make it go a bit more beyond comprehension. D:


Now, as for your Virgo and Pisces...I'd say it depends on how you feel about something. Ascendant is the mask one wears, or the self-mechanism to the unfamiliar. In that case, I'd say you'd act more Pisces-like. Whereas a sun sign would be your general sign, which often expresses itself a little in many ways. xD Do you know your moon sign?


I've done plenty of dream interpretations (though I'm still really just a novice!). As for lucid dreaming? I don't think so. I wish I could, though....

I think you have an interesting theory on dreams! No matter where they come from, I believe they carry important messages to helping us learn more about ourselves and situations. Kind of like Tarot. xD I've noticed that Death is the same in Tarot as it is in dreams.

My star chart is complex to say the least- and tbh, I haven't looked at it in years! My moon sign is Cancer, of all things, so there is a lot of, uh, room for variation in mood and thought shall we say?

I have a theory that certain signs lend themselves to "split souls" if you will. Gemini, Virgo, Libra and Pisces are all very dual-nature signs, and I have found those people will tell you they feel as though there are two of them... one rational and logical, the other passionate and often foolish. I myself am constantly arguing with myself, and while I don't exactly hear voices, the way these teo facets of my psyche communicate is definitely how I communicate. Of course, modern psychology tells me that this is a sign of psychological trauma, but I dunno. There have been many others who share this experience. If it's correct, imagine the noise in one's head when one's sun and rising sign are bothe dual nature... SHHH! SHUT UP! 

I have found that good old meditation helps develop and awareness of the dream self and can help in the lucid dreaming process. If you don't meditate much, MAN i suggest that you start! It's a great tool to connect with the divinity within and around you.

As for the runes, I meant more along the lines of crafting the stones themselves. I've actually never heard of combinations like that, but I am now facinated! My instincts tell me it has a lot of value! Since much of the magick I work is in the form of calligraphy and writing, I am slightly ashamedI haven't heard of this untill now...

Now let me ask, if it is not too personal of a question: When you do a working, do you do a full ritual? If so what godforms do you work with? I, for example, keep it simple and choose to work with the Lord and Lady and the Guardians of the Watchtowers. I usually reserve appealing to others for specific needs and at those times offer song instead of ritual.

You're a Virgo/Cancer, right? That would be the same as my older sister's signs. xD I think you're bound to be fairly diverse, since that's an Earth and Water sign combination. They are both feminine, but Earth is a "Thinking" sign and Water is a "Feeling" sign. xD My sun and moon are very different, as well, so I experience huge personality shifts. xD Your signs sound very similar, actually (Mine are also Thinker/Feeler, only Masculine instead of Feminine). I'd say a switch between rational and logical, and emotional and sensitive? That's a general way to put it. Most signs are very similar by element, but there's more detail that makes each unique. Also, two of my sisters have Cancer moons...that's a great placement for intuition.


I agree that there are many signs like that, namely mutable signs, and Libra would be similar, as well. xD I was thinking those signs were able to flexibly switch between the other signs (ex: my Gemini sun often can easily throw me into my Capricorn Ascendant or my Leo Moon). But what you say sounds very plausible as well. It's tough for me to say, because my moon sign is so dramatic anyways, lol. xD Either way, I'm a mix between rational and logical, and then passionate and foolish. =p

I can say for sure that I have a hard time making decisions, because of that split with a logical sign and a emotional sign. It's a conflict between the head and the heart, and both have their fair shot (though my Moon sign is more powerful).


I've meditated a few times, and it was very helpful! That's another thing I need to get back into. I'm very all-over-the-place and with all the stress going on lately, I can use really use some meditation. xD


I'm not very crafty, but I'm curious about crafted runes! That sounds more powerful to me! Do you make them often? What do you usually use them for?


Normally, I wouldn't mention anything about it publicly, but it's nice to know I'm not the only one around here who's into this stuff, so I feel more confident. xD I've had a lot of struggle between my religion and practices, but then I figured, why can't I merge the two? Anything is possible, haha. As long as I don't perform anything harmful, that is.

Anyways, I'm very new to witchcraft in general, so I haven't done very much yet.  Normally, I just do spells that require chanting. I'm still under my sister's wing, as far as that goes. I haven't been a part of many rituals, unless becoming a part of a circle counts (my circle is actually a group of four, each with different astrology-based elements, mine being "Air" ).

As for godforms? It's tough to say. I'm a little unfounded as far as that goes, but if I had to say what I think right now, it'd probably be similar to Greek Mythology - one "king" God, and many other, more specific Gods. Though, I admit that the Lord and Lady have also crossed my mind, because I love how well they fit together in a Yin-Yang/Masculine-Feminine form.

Sadly, I'm not very well educated or practiced, yet. I'm kinda just starting out and in a watch-and-learn phase.

The plane one goes to while meditating is the same plane upon which thought is made manifest- in other words, where magick comes from. That is the place where you will eventually run into Sluaagh and Faeries, and also your spirit guide and even possibly the gods themselves. It's tough to see them at first; your mind is innocent but no longer ignorant and they need time to "feel you out" as it were. I found Cerridwen (all three of her) and my totem guides there, and also my soul-pieces i lost through growing up as an abused child. It's all there, like they say in the charge of the Goddess:"I am the end of want and that which is attained at the end of desire." You will find YOUR godforms there. In the meantime, try out seeking the wind King, Paralda. He's the Guardian of the East quarter, ruler of Wind. Really wise dude.

Crafting your own tools, what the Hebrews call the Art of the Temple, helps the witch channel energy more effectively for 2 reasons: like you said, it just seems magickal (and that is the heart of magick, no?) and a lot of your energy goes into them, making them familiar. For runestones, I go th the local stream. NW Indiana is essentailly a swamp, so no shortage there... anyway, I ask for the stones and take as many as the river will give. 3 or 4 at a time is a good collection. Take them to your sacred space and cleanse them as you would any of your tools, and sleep with them for a few nights. If you can expose them to moonlight, do so. When they have accepted you, thank the spirits within them and honor them. Then proceed  with your working!

If you use them for divination, use all the correspondences you can while carving- silver candles, chamomiollle incense, you get it. Then let your tool, whether its a chisel, a knife or a Dremel, carve away the barriers until the truth is revealed. The same for talismanic runes, but the correspondences will be different depending on the intent of the charm. This is the art of Talisman, sometimes known as enchantment.

Then I'm certainly going to have to make time for meditating. I feel like all the stuff going on in life lately has taken me from my spiritual endeavors recently. I've always wanted to become stronger, but intuition isn't natural to me. It's better than what it was before, but mine is still very weak. I'm at a point where I can generally rely on it, but it feels like I may be blending it with instinct, though, which seems more natural to me than intuition. I'm not sure what type of psychic I would be, but I find that one of the easier tasks for me is to "sense" keywords with tarot readings, or any other form of focus. If that makes sense...

Does meditation help build intuition, as well?


I don't live near a stream, sadly. But there's a lot of everything in the area, I believe. We have a Rose Quartz crystal in my yard, if that helps? My sister says crystals are a very good thing. xD

That sounds very similar to new tarot decks and my dream stones. I mean, the part about sleeping with them under your pillow. That's what my sister taught me, anyways. I imagine that's how those objects tie to your unconscious, right?
I certainly want to try to make one sometime. It sounds really neat! It's just a matter of finding out where to get the materials. How will I know when they accept me?

Oh, wow. I just realized that I asked so many questions. I'm sorry about that!

It does, in a way. The closer you get to your own power source, the better all areas of your life will become- some describe the boost to intuition as the Goddess speaking to you, or your guide or some other divine intelligence.

Sensing key images and words is the starting point for nacent psychic talent, well done!  As your skill improves, you'll progress to seeing whole scenes and hearing conversations. Remember though, that the part of you that is sensitive to these things is also the part of you that goes off when you dream and meditate, so they will have a distinct dream-like quality to them. Soon you'll just do it and not need your tools at all! 

Crystal points are great, but they have a specific function- collection of energy. Whether as a focus on one's staff or wand, or as a shamanic tool to retreive soul shards, crystals house a matrix that energy likes.

Sleeping with or frequently handling a prospective new tool aligns the materials with our own energy. Lets just pick some numbers here... okay, let's say your body and all the energies within resonate at 30kHz. A new deck of cards, substantially less dense, resonates at 800Hz. After frequent handling and exposure to the sleeping 'babe, the cards now resonate at 1kHz- closer to our own frequency. Not only that, but yes, they have become partly you. They will have picked up some imprints of your psyche and will have time spent with you psychically "stamped" on them. Some of us can readily pick up these stampings, we call it object reading or psychometry. You'll know when they have accepted you because they will feel less like an object distinct from you as they will a part of your being.

Speaking of which, every time I focus on your energy I smell something sweet, like soap... girly soap... it's  like... light and reminds me of dessert...

Anyway, using them for divination is a very old tradition. There are a couple of different methods, but their more common use is as talismans, or to promote luck, health, etc. as you say. That's what I'm most familiar with, and each rune has its blessings to give. Some also have curses, but you don't do that, right? RIGHT?

What I meant by revealing the truth was this: you know how when you're doodling and suddenly the picture becomes something else? Something cool? Or when you're writing and the story tells itself to you? Well, when you carve your own runes or ogham it works like that too; the material will tell you what it wants to be. It is that desire, that spirit within the stone or wood, which is the truth yearning to see daylight.

It is good that you are looking! Many people never find a faith they are comfortable with.

One of the things I like about Wicca is that it is very inclusive; anyone is welcome here. That and you're free to practice any way you see fit within a few guidelines!

When I was younger, I was really interested in religions and I kind of went overhead on looking up whatever I could find... Wicca was one of them, and it seemed interesting but I couldn't see myself there. Now maybe, I could but I can't since some things might trigger some bad reactions with my parents, boyfriend and all others near me.

I know what you mean; it's the fear of being ostracized that keeps a lot of people from being public about their beliefs, whether its religion or sexuality.
Wiccans call telling your friends and family "coming out of the broom closet" and while not quite the same as coming out as homosexual, it has its parallels... at least, so I'm told.

I think it's mostly because Christianity is so prevalent and has associations with certain negative things (hatred against homosexuals and things like that). Wicca is rather obscure and most people haven't had negative experiences with it, and like M00s said, is a bit more universally accepting.

That sounds pretty clear! My dreams are typically very colorful, mystical, and quirky. So, if I start to see those more, I'll be getting closer, right? xD

In that case...I think my cards have accepted me a long time ago. There's this one deck (out of three total) that I always want to use, because it feels the most comfortable for me. Whenever I do readings, I talk to the cards, also to help focus on the question at hand. It's sort of like they communicate back in a way I understand very clearly. The cards come with this book that is just brilliant and I love it. Also, I think they are more happy because they now have a warm and snug card bag, made by our very own Acolyte! xD


You can smell my aura? That's awesome! Actually...that sounds a lot like my favorite perfume that I'm always wearing. :> It's something sweet-like, and I'm not sure exactly what. xD

Ever try seeing color auras? I've been told that mine is mostly pink, red, and yellow. I tried to "sense" what yours would be (I'm not sure how good I am at sensing stuff not sure if I'm doing it right or if it's possible from afar) and I saw purple...then brown...then silver. I think purple is wisdom (I forgot for the most part), I know brown can mean you had a barrier up, but than I saw silver, which I think is deep thought. I think I saw turquoise, too, but I'm not sure what that means. My color aura abilities are also somewhat weak.

Thats generally correct; as the dreams and meditations become more vivid and clear, it means your astral body is becoming better adapted to being in other worlds. It takes time and practice to develop your new sensorium there; as I was taught, we are essentailly newborns in those realms and time and will grow us into the Witches we wish to be.

That sounds like they like you! As you acquire more tools, the process of bonding to them will become more familiar. Remember, it's not the cost or the appearance of the tool, it's how well it speaks to you that is important. This is why it's equally important to have an atmosphere of love and trust in the circle; sometimes when you reveal that which is magickal to you, others may not see it as so and they must be understanding to your needs.

Yes, I can, haha! Since I'm so far away, connecting with your energy requires me to project astrally. You are so very brightly colored, Ms. yuyu-like a sunrise in winter-and you were hard to miss. There was a lot of feminine energy around you, made things a tad blurry, but I picked up two others. One like you and the other not quite as strong.

As for my colors? Wow, I guess I never really looked. I definitely have barriers up, that's for sure, but I'm doing my best to reconnect with the gods after this past year's BS. I just learned that the divorce is final as of yesterday so maybe I can put down some barriers, and just maybe the gods have called me out of my proverbial cave to assist another Seeker on her path... perhaps having the opportunity to discuss this subject with you is the Goddess's way of setting both of our feet on the path we need right now. I wouldn't judge you guys! In fact, my religion right now is split between Christianity and Wicca. I've had to fight between two beliefs, but I'm trying to mesh them together for the most part. Just because no one does that doesn't mean it's not possible. D:

That's true! All things require patience and time! I've actually found out that staring at a candle light helps me relax.

I may have already had some form of awakening, through a very powerful dream I had awhile back. I don't know what exactly it did, but I know that it did something. I think ever since I had that dream, weird things started happening. o.o

That couldn't be more true! My favorite deck is actually the least-appealing looking deck of mine, in a sense. It's very realistic, yet certainly more powerful than the others.

I agree! I've always found her to be kind of dark and subtle (maybe even gentle). But dark in a good way. xD I don't know how to explain "dark in a good way" any better though. :B Maybe the energies from the bag will add some more balance or something? xD

Speaking of energies... Awhile back, I used to carry around this agate that was given to me by someone very close to me. I felt like it helped make my thought process more clear and organized. However, when she and I got in an awful fight, the agate started to cause my bad luck, so I stopped carrying it. Eventually, she and I became really close again, so I think it should be back to normal. I forgot where I moved it when I was cleaning up, though. ;_;


Well, I'm in a family of all girls, pretty much. The two other energies you picked up sounds like my two other sisters (that live with us). The (oldest) more powerful Witch sibling doesn't live with us, though. My second oldest sister is a lot like me, only flip-flopped - she's Fire/Air. She's very extroverted, like me. The youngest, however, is more timid and shy. Yet, I think she's has the best potential out of all of us. By "less strong" energy, did you mean that hers exerted itself less? Also, I think she has a moonstone bracelet that is supposed to repel other energies from her.

She picks up on other energies really well, which makes her vulnerable at some points. She also has an easy time sensing other people's feelings. She will literally start to feel the same way that they do. o.o

You are definitely awake. How sharp your senses are is what will improve as time goes by. I am a  tad confused about mixing CHristian belief with Wiccan, just because iin the Christian Bible it says that witchcraft is bad. Can you elaborate on that?

Yes, I think that a witch's "real" name is an essential tool to develop one's astral presence. It helps you to think of yourself as someone else, almost as though you're a character of sorts. It's this visualization of your energy that you project into the Astral. See, I'm just Frank. Frank cannot fly or cast spells or change his form, but Archon Arth Vwar Salixalba can. Salixalba is loved by the Moon Goddess and is her companion and protector. Yeah, hehe, perhaps this should be explained a little better lest someone gets offended. By "dark" I meant the positive aspects of darkness. I'm a night person so to me, darkness is sacred. It is when the Moon Goddess shows herself to us and blesses all the good things that happen in the dark, from snuggling up in a comfy bed on a cold night to... um... other things that happen in said comfy bed. Darkness is mystery and quiet, time for renewal and reflection. It is that which is feared for its unknowable-ness, but it is beautiful because that is when most people cross the veil whether witch or not. Dark is good.

Since youre so sunshiny, perhaps the energy from the bag will serve as a counter-point for your readings. As for the stone, evidently it's very attuned to this friend of yours. I'm positive that now things are good between you, the agate will stop arguing with you. Good luck finding it!

Nope, its a big ol' fuzzy bear. The big kind with the hunch on the shoulders. I unexpectdly found him on a soul-retreival one night, and he's been with me ever since. Other creatures have been guides, and still are; wolves ravens, snakes and M33s (or is it M00ses?) but the bear is what I really identify with, and he seems to identify himself to me.

Your griffin just might be it. Has it taught you anything yet, or guided you through the Astral? IF it did, chances are good it's your guide, or at least one of many.

DO you not have a Book of Shadows of your own? This is another essential tool, IMO. Anything will do- you can even keep a word processing file- but it's nice to keep a record of all the nifty rituals, chants and other techniques you comae across that work for you. Mine is hand written in Uncial calligraphy, with some pages illuminated a little. IOt has indtructions for making talismans, the holidays, handfastings and lyrics from some pagan songs. It also contains my blueprint for casting the circle and the names of the gods I appeal to. I hope you get one soon!

Well i could have Gone into a big Bible story, but then i'm just typing paragraphs of Biblical lecturing for the reason of nobody would read past the second paragraph. so in any case:

I've started to see things since then, what looks like people, for the most part. O.o I wasn't sure or not, though. It could always be the corner of my glasses. Though, I could have sworn that I saw a man wearing dirtied jeans from the corner of my eye, watching me do the dishes (lol). When I turned, there was nothing. The really strange part is that it didn't scare me at all. o_o


As it stands, I believe in God as the leader of many gods (similar to Zeus) and Jesus as his son. However, I don't believe in the Bible. I think the only connection with God is through one's self, not a book written by another person. There are other religions that influence my beliefs, as well: Like the Hindu belief in reincarnation, for example.

However, from what you say about discovering your true leaders, I have yet to experience something like that. So, for all I know, I could discover something very different (in a good way, hopefully)!

I've always thought dark-personalities were interesting. Opposites are good, because there's a lot to learn from them! And I never did think of that as a bad thing, either. I mean, everything is good and bad at the same time anyways, right? B)

Would it be that the "less strong" aura was that of the little sister, that is more timid, yet secretly powerful? Or would it be the aura of the older sister, who is more skeptical about all this in general, yet is way more extroverted by personality? Note: I have 3 sisters: the eldest (most magical), the older (the skeptic), (me), then the youngest (the timid one).

The youngest is actually really fond of this sort of stuff. She once said the idea of it made her feel strangely happy. xD Her talents aren't specifically "reading" people, so much as sensing their feelings. It might be about the same thing. We also think she might have a good connection to animals. I think she's already found her guide - which may be a phoenix.

The eldest one is a Water moon sign, actually.  Both she and the youngest have Cancer moons, and Cancer is ruled by the moon, so it's a very powerful influence.

Going by Sun/Moon sign: the eldest is a Virgo/Cancer (Earth/Water), the second oldest is a Leo/Libra (Fire/Air - the only non-emotional moon sign), then there's the Gemini/Leo (Air/Fire - that's me!), and finally, the Pisces/Cancer (Water/Water). That's why we think she's especially good at sensing emotions, and it's proven correct so far. But she's also vulnerable to other people's emotions.


I keep leaning towards becoming a teacher, but I'm really not sure. I'm so indecisive. Right now, I'm working part-time and going to school part-time, keeping my eyes open.

One of the photos I saw you in has a purple blur around you, almost violet. It was the one where you had your poor face all bustid and stuff... that could mean calm (read: drugs for pain). A lot of the introverts I've read auras for have some purple. Blue is a color of thought, may mean you were planning something at the time, or it could be celerity of the mind. I wouldn't be surprised in any of those cases, but there's more to a person than one color- hard to tell from a photo, but I can tell you that you have very rich energies.

@Amychan: A lot of people have prophetic dreams all the time, but either dismiss them or simply don't remember them. IF you did, it means that you're sensitive to the energy around you, and that the Universe had someting to tell you- maybe it wanted you to go down that exact path for some reason.

@ the 'babe of yuyu: I certainly hope you do find your guides; they can do a lot of good in astral travels, and finding them is a hallmark of an experienced witch.

Concerning magickal names: Some covens prefer to teach that a witch should have many names: one for mundane use, one for use among the like-minded but not of the coven, and yet another for use only in the covenstead. Some ggo further to include a name used only between you and the gods. This hearkens back to the days when any form of pagan worship was outlawed and it's adherents hanged, burned at the stake or otherwise destroyed in an excessively spectacular fashion. Nowadays I don't see the use; I am who I am, law protects me and if others of my faith are to knnow me, they ought to know how I identify myself as a witch- especially if i need to be invoked or channeled in an emergency.

About dark-tinged energies:I have found those with darker auras to be- hmmm, whats the word... well, it feels luxurious, like a big velvet couch. I find those energies strangely attractive, although I have only once met a woman that had them that I got along with. Shame, that.

Concerning the enrgies in your house: I'll bet your youngest is the less detectable. She's subtle, almost unnoticed because it's like she's supposed to be there. Perhaps it's just me who cannot focus! I get logic and quiet and a desire for privacy... she seems pretty stable, from an energy standpoint. How very interesting... yes, watch her.

Cool enough, that may be your starting point. What I would do, and how I found mine, was to simply meditate. I wandered around the astral, just exploring, and along the way I met several entities- I was there for a soul-retreival, so i had no real destination in mind- and the bear was one of them. He led me to my goal. Before that, I thought Wolves were my guide because I saw so many of them, and before that, ravens. TO this day I still see omens in ravens. But I suppose when we look at the creatures, maybe they were steps to each other: Raven is a messenger, Wolf is a teacher, and Bear is a survivor and warrior, and the best parent among the guides.

On the Book of Shadows: It's not uncommon for a group to have one, but that doesn't mean the individuals within the group shouln't have their own, either. It's a great way to keep track of what is, essentially, YOUR version of YOUR faith. You get to write your OWN holy canon!


Oh, and keep trying with the career thing. You have time. Heck, some of the most interesting people I know are ready to retire and still don't really know what they want to do for a living.

Well, I kind of did remember it the first week since I thought it was a weird dream. I always remember weird dreams.
But after that week, it was gone from my mind since it seemed to have no use. But when the event occurred I immediately remembered the exact date I had the dream and I told my best friend at the time that I had this weird thing that happened to me.

Also, I once wanted to take up wicca as my own religion but I did tend to be afraid. But since it still interests me and my boyfriend told me he was once interested in it makes me think that maybe I could practice it for real without having to reveal it to my parents or anyone else... Just me and my love? What do you think?

I know someone who dreams prophetically, as well. =o It's a very neat gift! I'm envious! xD As for pursuing the Wicca...the best I can recommend is to follow what you feel is the best path for you. Don't go by what you think - there's a grand difference between feelings and thoughts. Separate them and find out what your heart is telling you. ;o Also, spirituality has a lot to do with emotions (in my opinion), so it's good to rely on those when searching for it.

Dark energies: I've always been attracted to them, too. o.o I think they are often misunderstood, and those that are harder to get along with could have perhaps fallen too dark to the negative side of the darkness, though. Which is always a shame...of course, people can be "sunburned" by too much light, too. D:


Meditation and the Astral: I've never quite known how to wander in it. Does it happen during meditation? The Astral sounds especially interesting, though I'm ashamed to say that I've never heard much about it.

@Amycha: You are an adult, so it is your decision ot do what you think is best for you. All I can tell you is that making the change is difficult for many because of the negative stigma still attached to Wicca, especially in predominantly Christian or Muslim countries. I can also say that once you become comfortable with Wicca, coming out of the broom closet is easier; I have, however lost some friends over it, but my relatives seemed to accept, if not condone my choice. In the end, it's all about what is right for you.

I had one of those once when I was younger. Maybe it was just a routine that was so ingrained that it was only inevitable to dream about it. But I managed to have a dream about an entire day. Too much déjà vu. Freaked me out to no end at the time. I seem to get that feeling quite often, but I understand psychology enough to make sense of it. Still doesn't help when it crops up though.

That's always an issue when it comes to these kind of things. People often stigmatize the practice because they don't really understand it. My girlfriend is a pretty strong believer, she even has a pentacle she wears occasionally. But seeing as most religious folk, in particular, have a whole issue with what they see as anti-Christian that she doesn't wear it whilst she's working or in public places. My own views on it are half and half. Whilst it's more closer to my own opinions than most normal religions, it doesn't hold up to my more scientifically grounded views.

Really, I think all parents especially should encourage their children to find whatever path they feel comfortable on, but I know that's not always the case. If you know your family isn't going to be happy with that choice, then I'd probably suggest keeping it on the low if you do look into it more. Maybe if it becomes a more serious endeavour, you can sit them down and let them know. You just have to know that, ultimately, it's your path and it's where you are happiest. They should come to respect that decision, even if they don't fully agree, just like you should respect their views.

On topic again, I remember once giving the whole astral projection thing a go. I think I lacked the real patience to ever get anywhere with it. It's not something I've tried since but, like with the whole déjà vu thing, I understand a lot more about the brain and why some of these things happen and it would be hard to shake of any kind of scepticism. That and if it didn't match to that knowledge I'd probably be shit scared.

It's still interesting to try and understand the many things of the world, though. Would be fun to find groups of such people and see what's about, even if just for anthropology reasons (I hate people in general, but I am fascinated by them at the same time).

Well, to say one thing. My mum was raised in a completely obsessed Christian family and my dad was raised with hatred against pretty much all religions. My mum decided to disconnect with the church and became atheist as well.
Now, my mum's parents are now, less Christian than they ever were because their faith has weakened. But it still repels them to even hear that someone else believes in "another" god, they'd rather have people around them that don't believe in a god than Muslims, Jews, Protestants, Buddhists or whatever.
The other side, dad's parents, pull every religion into doubt and they would even hate religions for what they think they do/did...
My own parents are kind of the same and they don't want anything to do with religion, so it really is hard for me to find a path as long as I'm still living with my parents.

Though, my boyfriend is into pretty much everything according to nature, space and sience... He is absolutely fascinated by stars, dreams, the way things work and he respects every bit of the world as much as he can. So it might be a good thing for me to find my path when I'm with him

Amycha, I really hope you give it a try. Get some materials, and go throught the motions for a year and a day. By that time you'll know if it's for you or not. I find joy in it; you may, you may not. Whatever you do, though, TRY. Really try it. There is no value in accomplishment without cost.

Nah, we were kind of hijacking the "post your pic" thread, and yuyu and I had this one started awhile back. It exists for us (and by us I mean we of a mystical or witchy or magickal mindset) to express and discuss our faiths.

I dabble in things like tarot and runecastings, but I also used to staff a ( now dead ) metaphysics and occult website.  Thems were good times...

I never really got involved in much of the pagan idols or anything...so much as I take cues from patterns in the universe itself.  Never really saw individual worship as necessary.

Tarot is my favorite. ;o; But I also liked trying out other Oracle decks and seeing how they operate. Really fun stuff. B) I'm also really big into Astrology. Not horoscopes, just birth charts and what not.

Well, yanno, since we work together now, I could get you back into the swing of things =)   I myself am not Wiccan in the usual sense. I have faith and believe in the Lord and Lady, and call upon the four elements. However, I do not subscribe to all of the earthy-crunchy fluff on some of the more.. ermm.. well known ( ? ) forums. I'm part of one in particular as a member, called everythingunderthemoon.net/forum  but am almost always at odds with at least one member for some reason or other. Now, that's not to say that I do not believe in the down to earth parts, however, I'm not one of those people that only accept the "lighter" side of things. I also embrace the darker side of majick, and I might be somewhat of a "grey witch" in that sense. I also got "banned" by that forum for a little bit when I told them about being a psychic vampyre..

Having a sister that is very susceptible to psychic vampires (vampyres? dunno which one to use xD) makes me a bit over-protective. I think you're pretty trusty, though. B)


Anyways, I'm really into this book about psychic types; the four types are Spiritual, Emotional, Mental, and Physical. Here's a brief summary of them all:

Spiritual - Receives psychic messages through the spirit, usually dreams. Often good with energies (I think).
Emotional - Receives messages through emotions, acts more as an emotional sponge. Makes good psychic healers.
Mental - Receives messages through the mind, often able to detect emotions and the thoughts of others.
Physical - Receives messages through the physical body (could be triggered by a range of things: plants, animals, places, etc).

There's a lot of neat details, such as powers, suggestions for helping meditation, etc. The book even has a (pretty large) quiz that will tell you your type. If you guys would like, I can type it out here and get some more details.

It really helped me discover my potential. ;_; My top type would be Mental, and my second would be Spiritual. My sister, on the other hand, is Emotional and Physical. Pretty neat. B)

Well, contrary to popular belief, not all psy vampyres can drain someone just by thinking about them. I myself couldn't absorb energy from someone without physical contact (watch out there Drew...   =p ), since that's just how my vampyness works. And on top of that, not many people realize that it's with varying degrees of "affliction" for each person... Like I for example get plenty of energy feeding off my other half when we.. well.. uhm... make pillow forts? PG-13 thread I assume? lolz
