I d/l RPG Maker XP and installed it just yesterday. I know it's a 30-day trial program so I was prepared for the program to d/l the serial.

However, my Norton Internet Security blocked it at first. I clicked the option to permit all internet access to the program.

I then got the error that the trial serial could not be retrieved, which is pretty much normal (since the first attempt was blocked midway).

However, when I tried opening the program again, it still said it could not contact the server. Does anyone know whether the server for the trial serial is down?

Trying to add the program to allowed internet access in Norton's drop-down menu also hung my com.

This has never happened before cept for MapleStory, and only recently.

I know this is more of a 'Norton' problem, but can anyone provide me with some ideas on how to resolve this matter  :?

Nah, I just d/l Postality's Knights version. I know it's illegal, plus it's not version 1.02a, but I have no choice for now  :|

the pk edition is as far as i can tell identical to the legal version

In my opinion, I would get a different Virus Scanner as soon as possible. Norton always did wierd crap like this to me. It's impossible to uninstall, though.

Yeah I know that Norton 2005 is the suckiest  :? Alas, we paid good money for it, so we're tolerating it till our subscription is fulfilled.

Of course, it's damn tough to uninstall. Maybe, I'll get my bro to backup our files and then format my computer to burn that sucker =P

Anyway, then what would you guys suggest? My dad's com has McAfee, which seems alright, Technically, I have Lavasoft's Ad-Aware Professional on my com at the same time as Norton, but it's way more reliable for virus scanning (Norton is bloody BLIND!)

yeah thats true me and my friend can send virus threw it for fun to each other but it does give u the protection u need for new viruses and to uninstall it go to the control panel and click add or remove programs and remove it from there should work. :)
