RMXP Doesn't work

Well, after many tries, I decided it's time to post here to ask what might be going on. Everytime I try to open RMXP it says: 'Cannot initialize DirectAudioX'. Then it shuts down. I have no clue what's wrong, and was wondering if anyone else knew.

Make sure you have the latest version of DirectX.

Well, I've downloaded it and tried it, but it still shows the same message.   Anything else I could do?

Then you have a problem with your sound card/driver.
