As it turns out... I have some things I want to *sell* on ebay, meow.

I have two SNES games, Earthbound and a cartridge for Hagane.

Earthbound is worth 120~ish.

Hagane...is worth like five hundred fucking dollars.

Can...can someone tell me how to not fuck this up. I am literally holding the means of getting my boyfriend down here and into my arms in a box behind me on the bed.

You'll have better chances of selling on Ebay but they do charge you to list an item even if it doesn't sell, whereas on Amazon they only take a portion of the profit if you actually sell it, and they take less money from you, so you may want to consider going the Amazon route. New sellers also tend to have better luck on Amazon with this stuff.

However, having said that....

According to the research I've done, it will take me weeks of buying and selling useless items to build up enough reputation before anyone worthwhile will even CONSIDER looking at me as a seller.

That said, I think Earthbound isn't going anywhere. If 120 sounds fair to you Ryan it's yours. It's in good condition, I was very nice to it. : ) It's just the cart though. I wasn't lucky enough to get anything else with it.

EDIT: I was glancing at Amazon last night and people are selling cartridges with partially torn labels for $189.00 . That's... ludicrous, to me. It's a great game, but it's not like there are only two copies in circulation. It's amazing what people will convince themselves *their* copy is worth. I actually saw a cartridge someone put up for $1,599.99 at one point, but it's gone meow. That HAD to be a joke.

Do not use Amazon and Ebay as a method of determining the collector's value of a game. Case in point: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0012YO1MG/ That game is obviously not worth that, and while an extreme example, this is the kind of thing that sellers do with older video games especially ones that a lot of people aren't selling. Serious collectors (your target customers if you're still selling Hagane and Earthbound if arlen doesn't take it) use other sources, primarily this: http://videogames.pricecharting.com/ and you'll also notice that Hagane, unfortunately for you unless you have the box and manual, is not worth $500. If you do have the box, then sell dat shit.

Your absolute best bet in selling the more valuable stuff is trying to sell them directly to collectors by going to video game collecting forums and stuff like that. I also know a few people who may be interested in Hagane so I can put in a word for you if you'd like.

You know what's even more ridiculous than selling copies of old games for crazy high prices?

GameStop is selling used copies of Xenoblade for $90. 90 fucking dollars, for a game that's only about 2 years old. Their reason is that it's a "vintage game" (their actual words) "in high demand." Absolutely ridiculous, especially when these "used" copies all seem to be suspiciously new and in pristine condition, but without the plastic wrap.

Might be old news to you by now, but those used copies aren't used. Xenoblade was a Gamestop exclusive in the U.S. and after they sold out, the cost of finding a copy of the game went up (to about $150 in some cases) and then Gamestop decided to print a new run of copies and then passed them off as used with a pricetag of $90 so as to seem like a great value in comparison which it is of course, but is still a pretty crappy thing to do considering if they sold it at $60 again, the price of the game would come down from its astronomical height.

No wonder the used copies are so expensive. I thought GameStop was just copying online prices e.g. Amazon and they were being lazy, but I guess they're just assholes. Thank god for the softmodded Wii.

Does the WiiU have virtual console Wii games? I rented this game when I worked at GameFly, and I freakin loved it but didn't have time to play it that long, and eventually returned it after only getting about 8 hours in. I really wanted to buy a copy since I knew I'd love it, but jesus christ, $90? If the WiiU is doing virtual Wii games, I hope it ends up on there. I'd buy a WiiU (after the price drops a bit more) if that's the case, especially since EarthBound is on VC now.

The Wii U does not have Virtual Console Wii games and they probably never will. Nintendo should make it an exception and add it to the eShop though, because the demand for it is clearly there.

Now I'm kind of feeling guilty for owning the game yet never having played it lol

For taking a crack at the RMRK Wiki
Amazon is pretty good for selling stuff. I sold a copy of Tales of the Abyss for $30 I think, and traded in my copy of OoT 3D for like $25, for which I originally paid $20 :) . Of course I couldn't pocket the OoT profit, but I put it toward Animal Crossing.

I got a bad review from Tales of the Abyss, though. Something to do with shipping prices. Amazon doesn't let you set the shipping charge to the customer, but the actual rate I paid to USPS was like a buck or two cheaper than Amazon's rate. I think the lady amended her review, but I don't know. I sold it through my sister's account at the time so I never bothered to check back.

Seems like that's gonna be the case, with the way money is panning out. (Waiting that is)

There's a $199 model of the PS3 coming out sometime soon. I read just a few days ago about it (can't find the article though). It could cause a price drop in the used models available now. However,  it's only sold with 12GB of memory so it may not make the higher-capacity models appreciably cheaper. You can put in a hard drive, though.

I've been on the fence about a PS3 myself, but probably won't decide to buy one until the PS4 comes out. I'm banking on a price drop, as Malson suggested.

Yeah, if you buy shipping from Amazon you can get first class USPS for cheaper than you would if you take it to the post office yourself and pay for postage, and Amazon only charges you a 7 cent fee. It also doesn't show the buyer how much you paid for shipping. If she complained about shipping then she's probably one of those people that post "reviews" on product pages that are actually nothing more than seller feedback (i.e. she doesn't know how Amazon works).

And now Gamestop is doing the same thing with Metroid Prime Trilogy. Because they value their customers!

Can't you go into the Wii Menu and buy/play them from there?

You can't buy Wii games from there. The Wii menu is just an emulator. There are no Wii games available for purchase from Nintendo digitally anywhere.

I misunderstood completely. I thought you were referring to old-school Virtual Console titles that were available for download on the Wii.

I don't have the box for hagane, but yes, do put in a word. I figured the price was too good to be true on that one, heheh... Cuz otherwise, how the hell did *I* come to own it? But yes, I'm interested in whatever someone might have to offer for it. This ticket needs to get purchased yesterday if the rest of my life is gonna remain on track.

EDIT: I'm browsing the listing site you linked HOTS- $251.25 on average still sounds fucking sweet.
