I'm actually kind of surprised that I've only stumbled upon this now; and at that, I am a newcomer to world forge so its probably better not to direct questions about it at me. But anyway, ladies and gentlemen......
"The WorldForge project is producing an open source framework for massively multiplayer online role-playing games. The intent lies in creating a widely used development framework and set of libraries by motivating interested developers to improve on the original code" -Source: wikipedia --> worldforge
From what I've seen, using a variety of free editors one can use this framework. Using these editors you can create MMORPG type games, and the editors seem to be capable of building worlds easily, on the fly, as youtube can show you.
The editor/player program Ember is available for Linux, Windows, and Mac, and as a browser plugin. From what i've seen, you can mold the physical world of the game with simple button clicks; so its probably very user friendly, although I do not know if making quests, events, or otherwise scriptable actions are so simple.
The game environments are 3D ; It also appears that custom servers are not only possible but a fundamental part of how the game is souposed to work.
So, Discussion? Anybody familiar with this? Does it interest anyone?
Personally, the idea that we can easily make a 3D customizable MMORPG is an attractive proposition.
