I want to make an oriental setting and use Japanese and Chinese characters. Is there a method of making this happen?

Mitsarugi

would such a script work in XP?

I've tried using UMS script:

$game_system.font = "MS Mincho"

and following up with a simple test for  "?" but it turned into a question mark in the 'text:' and in the simple script:

p "?"

it prints

"?"

like it does in this forum...

the character I'm trying to show is:

Mitsarugi

i found the xp version too , put to show japanese characters you'll have to add them to your font with font creator.

I don't understand. Are you saying I need to download another program and spend 40 years manually drawing all the japanese characters?

Mitsarugi

sort of , but you don't have to draw them you know ^^
you can open 2 font files and copy, past them in the other :p

Can you write up a simple step by step (links where necessary) on how to do this?

like

step 1. download program [link]

step 2. open program >> new file (or whatever)

step 3. locate (japanese font) at (link or wherever)

step 4. open (???) in RPGmaker XP and drag drop/type (something)

etc.

?
