Olivia lives on a small farm with her mother. Since her preteen years, she has always had a longing for adventure, like her Dad used to do. Sadly during Olivia’s Dad’s adventure, he died after facing a giant monster out in the wild, which is also why her mother tries to shelter her. On Olivia’s 18th birthday, she receives a message to go into the forest located near her farm, but as her mother does not want her to go into the wild, it would be almost impossible to go if she finds out. Knowing this, Olivia sneaks out on the night of her birthday to meet the mystery person who sent the letter, but on arriving to the location, she only finds a mildly wounded creature on the ground. Seeing as she cannot just leave it there, she takes it home.
Little does she know that the creature is actually an “omen” according to the area she lives in, because of this, her mother has almost no choice but to tell the mayor of the village which is connected to the farm. The mayor tells Olivia’s mother that she has to be exiled from the town because of the “filthy omen” she has brought back with her, she is then given a day to get everything ready to go. During that night, the creature wakes up, seemingly recovered. It wakes up Olivia:
“Hey…Hey!”
Olivia, surprised that it can talk, jumps out of her bed and starts to talk to the creature. The creature gives its name; Chippy, and a location which Olivia apparently needs to head off to. After talking, they both go to sleep ready for morning.
The morning comes and Olivia gets ready. While sad that she will not see her mother or the townspeople again, she is happy that the journey she has always dreamed of is coming true…
