I don't know a great deal about photography, but I want to some day (in fact I may take some courses on it while I'm still in college). The reviews say that this camera is excellent on auto, but also has a lot of the features a photographer who actually knows that they're doing would use as well. It also says video is pretty great, even though it's only 640x480 max. But that's what my videos usually are anyway, so it shouldn't be an issue.

But, and this is important, I don't want one of those full-sized bulky cameras that I have to wear around my neck. I want something compact, that can slip into my pocket. The camera I have now is like that, and isn't really that great either. Basically, it's useless, because it's too big to take anywhere I go, and when I do use it image quality isn't all that spectacular. (This is what I have, lol. Awful.)

This new one's only 10 MP, but I honestly don't know what a difference that makes compared to 12.1 MP.
And it's the second-highest rated camera on newegg.

Any opinions?

This is probably your best option for a compact camera that takes really good photos. Its ISO rate is excellent, which is a definite plus, and its other settings like exposure and white balance are easily changed. Looks like this is perfect for taking high quality photos for vacations and such other events. I might get myself one of these.
