Turn on a switch. Then make a new event page inside the event, and make it blank and active after the switch is on.
I'm much too lazy to put an actual signature here.

Will you join me in the dark side...?
there is an option that you add on the event that says

switch on, and you name one and make it on. Then, add a new page to that event, and there are some options on the left side of the page, where it does say Switch, select the one you put ON on the other page, and that will make it.

When the movie ends, it will change page because of the switch and that new page is blank so it won't do anything else. That works to everything that you make with events...

My insanity keeps me sane
Switch operations, page 1 of event commands, 6th button down

or what I tend to do is use a variable instead, it's the button under switch commands. every time I want to progress I add +1 to the variable, which if set up right will shut off the last event and activate the next. this way you can replace an army of switches with just one variable.

alternatively there is the erase event command (page 3 5th from bottom, though reentering the map will bring it back or add the teleport command at the end and leave the map, as long as you don't enter the map again.
