OOT is the FF7 of the Zelda franchise.

I guess, even if it didn't come next chronologically, MM would be FF8 because it's so emo. I mean, it starts out with Link being all "nobody loves me I'm riding away from Hyrule by myself on a horse nobody understands me."

And Link to the Past would be FF6, because it's clearly the superior game, but nobody born after 1990 is aware of it.

would that make twilight princess 12? because it completely redid the way the game was played.  (except 12 sucked)

Man, it's all opinions here anyway Majora's Mask is better in my opinion. I think it has more to offer but I could be biased!

I never played FF6 but 4 is the best. 4 and 5 were the only ones I could actually get into to, 9 was neat and x-2 or whatever (the girl band one) was decent.

OoT is far superior than FF7 and it pretty much deserves most of what people say about it, whereas FF7 is just a big drawn out JRPG. And JRPGs are already big and drawn out. But I do agree, OoT is the FF7 of Zelda.

4 is my second favorite. 6 will always win for me.

FFIX is definitely my favourite 3D Final Fantasy game. FFX and FFX-2 are also pretty great. FFVIII and FFVII are good. :]
FFIV is definitely my favourite 2D Final Fantasy game. I, II and III are lame, in my opinion. VI and V are probably equally good in my opinion. :]

Final Fantasy VI: 20+ Characters, all with their own individual personalities, detailed back stories, and GOALS in the game. A villain who, for ONCE in the ENTIRE Final Fantasy series, is actually villainous!

Final Fantasy V: 5 Characters, with a mix-and-match, thrown together haphazardly job system, with uninteresting backstories, all with exactly the SAME goal. A villain named X-Death, who at one point turns himself into a splinter (yes, a splinter) and gets stuck in one of the characters, only to come back later and be like "ha ha! I was never actually gone! I was that splinter in your hand! How clever I am!"

How can you POSSIBLY consider those two equals!?

Also, FF4 is so depressing. People just start dropping like flies, and it's like OH COME ON he didn't even HAVE to die to propel the storyline!

I do agree with this, but this doesn't mean they're both bad. They're overhyped and praised far more than they should be, but they're both still good games, imo.

They're also the first mainstream 3d games of their respective franchises.

I consider them equal because I actually found the characters of FFVI really dull :x. I really like FFV's job system too.

And yeah, FFIV always makes me feel miserable but that's why it's so good !

My first zelda game was ALTTP. When I got OOT the first thing I thought was "Wow... this game looks like crap."
Graphics got worse before they got better.

Also, it was the first of them using 3D to make a game. Plus, N64 doesn't have the graphics capabilities of the newer systems. >_>

I have always enjoyed The Legend of Zelda series. The only problem it has is its' crazy timeline.

I remember watching a youtube video on the timeline of Link and his games. It was pretty fascinating. And then I remember watching a video by the same guy who got sent an e-mail from the Zelda pplz that it actually wasn't meant to have a timeline

As in anything of a timeline of sorts, besides direct sequels, were coincidental. At least, that was at the time of the video.

Head on over to Miyamoto Shrine, you will find a link on the left for "Interviews". Click it, and then click the 2003 Super Play interview. In that interview, Shigeru Miyamoto says that there is a large document that relates the games to each other. In addition, in a recent GameSpy interview, the new head of Zelda, Eiji Aonuma, said he cares very much for story and is going to make more sense of Zelda's story in the future. And oh yeah, at Camp Hyrule 2004, Bill Trinen, the NOA Localization guy, commented that there is indeed a Zelda Timeline, that there has been one for as long as he has known, but it was due to some previous localization "issue" that it became so skewed. However, he said Eiji Aonuma and all the Zelda teams in Japan and the US are working to make the timeline clear to fans, and are actively working to tie it all together with each new game. Regardless of how messed up the timeline may be, why the hell do they keep referring to other games in each new title? We may never know what the timeline is, we may never know if it was always the same or not. Point is, the games obviously connect, and anyone who says otherwise is a fricking moron. Oh yeah, and in 2006, Eiji Aonuma confirmed there was a split timeline. More evidence there is one afterall. Still not buying it? At E3 2007, IGN conducted an interview with Eiji Aonuma, in which he revealed that there is a document on a few computers at NCL which are marked "top secret" which contain the basic "timeline" of the entire Zelda series, known or unknown to the public.
