I need some help. Whenever I test play my game the screen moves and stops for each step that I take. It doesn't lag, the character sprites animation is smooth, it's just the screen that stops and moves when it scrolls down while I walk around the map. The screen doesn't move smoothly like it's suppose to. I was thinking that it was the amount of events I had on the map that I started the test play on. The map I started the test play on was my hometown map with about 7 houses that I put transfer events on to get in each of the houses and it has 2 events side to side (because the walking path is two squares wide) to get to the church map I made. The other map with just the church is a smaller than my hometown map. It has a fountain event in the middle that plays the river sound effect and 2 transfer events side by side (because the walking path is two squares wide) to get to back to my hometown. My church map has less events but it still does the same thing when I start test play on my church map. I'm thinking that the river sound effect is making it like that but I don't know why it would be like that if that and the 2 transfer events are the only events on that map. I tried putting the starting event in one of the houses and the screen moves around smoothly whenever I test play it. The only events I put in the houses were transfer events to get out of the houses. I also thought that instead of blaming RPGXP, it could be my computer. I have a vista. I heard from somewhere that vista can have problems when running rpgxp, but I only read about vista having problems running the rpg.exe thing when installing rpgxp on vista. I don't know what the problem is, or if it's something to even be posting about. But it's kind of annoying that whenever i test play my game on my church and hometown map the screen stops and moves for every step i take.
If someone can tell me how to fix this that would be cool.

Try making a new, empty map, at a 500x500 size. Set your starting position on that map and test play it to see if it's still doing the same thing. If it works fine, then, most likely, it's an event on the problem map that's creating some lag.

If you're using a sound effect from an event, and you think that that is the problem, then be sure to; either, 1.use the Erase Event command after the Sound Effect, or 2.use a Wait command.

Typically though, if it is a river sound effect like you explained, be sure that it's imported as a BGS.

If you're still having problems, post screen shots of the events that you're using.

ahh thanks :D that helped out a lot. After I did what you told me to do it still did the same thing but not as bad as before. Then I found out that my fountain event created the stopping and moving on my maps because I had it on autorun so i switched it to parallel process and my maps run smoothly now.
what is the difference between autorun and parallel process?
but thanks haha :] how do I let other people know that my problem has been resolved so they don't keep posting help here? lol
